I have a few meetup groups. They are nice to meet people with similar interests as yourself. I'm in a wine group where we have a house party and a winery tour each month. I go to what I can.

I belong to six or seven meetup groups. Most of these are dance-related.

I also go to a Spanish conversation Meetup group every week in order to maintain my language skills. It's fun and it has been a good way to meet new people in a new city.

Dances: salsa (standard/LA), casino, rueda de casino, cumbia Colombiana, cumba Mexicana, bachata, mambo, cha-cha-chá, merengue, reggaetón.

Dances to Learn in the future: flamenco, tango Argentino, samba, belly dancing, bhangra, danzón, Cuban rumba, ballroom rumba

I went to one with a knitting group once and we just sat and knitted and talked. It was nice and relaxing but I'm not into groups much so never did another one.

I have tried one for my neighborhood, but with my work schedule I was unable to meet up. However, I do keep checking other groups. It's a great idea!
Good luck to you and your girlfriend! My son has anxiety as well and I am always trying to find support for him.

So, my girlfriend & I join a few meet up groups in our area.

We joined a 50 and over group together and she joined a few additional groups for people who deal with social anxiety (which she has).

Anyone ever join a group from Meet Up.com?
