Ahh, perfect! Now I remember seeing that somewhere, too. Thanks so much, I will definitely give the soy sauce a try, and maybe branch out to marmite too.

Hi! You could swap in a bit of low-sodium soy sauce or add a few dried mushrooms instead. Vegemite/Marmite adds umami (flavor/depth/richness) to the dish.

In a lot of recipes on sparkrecipes, I see marmite or vegemite being called for. Here is an example:

Can these ingredients be substituted, or skipped altogether? I realize it may change the flavor a bit, but would it be a drastic change? I don't want to hunt down and pay for an ingredient I would not use often.
