I like the saying you posted. It is so very true. I read that, and it kind of helps me stay motivated. Thanks for the posting.

That's so true. It's not always as simple as calories in versus calories out. It's about being healthy. It's about changing your lifestyle so that maintaining a new weight isn't that hard. The way I see it, it took me a long time to put on all of this weight and it is going to take me a long time to take it off. :) Good luck on your journey.

I think I get what you're saying... and I was that way, too. I finally got to the point where I started to "trust the process". Because I was so sick and tired of the yo-yo dieting, and the oddball, restrictive-type diets, and being fat, that there just was no "giving up" for me. I was going to stick with it no matter what, and trust that over time I'd lose the weight. Even if, on paper, I *should have* lost a pound but only lost 1/10th of a pound. I was going to keep going anyway. Because it really isn't as simple as calories in/ calories out. There are a lot of variables in there. And you know what? It worked. Over time, I lost the weight and have kept it off over 2 years.

I hope I can express this properly.

My whole life I have struggled with an all or nothing attitude and used the simple calories in vs out to gage what I believed my success or failure "should be". If the math didn't work out onthe scale I was frustrated and defeated. If I burned 3500 a week and didn't see that one pound off I would blame myself and feel like I was doing something wrong so what is the point if it isn't going to work? Sound familiar?

I am working now on coming to terms with the fact that it isn't that simple. Who knows what our bodies are doing most of the time? As long as I am eating healthy and working out I know the scale will show a difference In a general downward motion not a math calculation.

Sometimes I lose less sometimes more. Our bodies are complex systems of hormones, water, chemicals, everything has an impact and I am okay with that.
