Congrats! And thanks for the inspiration. I will be traveling a lot this fall for work and reading your post has given me a vision statement I want to make on each of my returns home. Now I will look up the hotels I'm staying at to see their fitness facilities.

For eight of the last twelve days I have been out of town with friends, sort of mini vacations. Computer access wasn't quite as convenient as usual, so I just paper and penned everything I ate. As I sat here going back through and entering everything from those days, I realized all the really great food choices I made during all of that eating out! I avoided fried foods and cream based sauces, substituted healthier sides to replace french fries, etc. The old me would have used these out of town opportunities to indulge every time eating somewhere new, but I chose grilled options and passed up desserts without even thinking twice all of this time away. I even craved yogurt and fresh fruit (a couple of my frequent go-to foods) the whole time I was traveling! I also worked out six of the eight days I was out of town!

In the past I may have felt like I deprived myself of those food experiences, but I feel so accomplished about the choices I made. When I did want to try something less healthy, I had one bite and stopped there. I feel I've truly made life changes. I've worked too hard to go back now! All of that time away, I was anxious about having regained and actually stayed right around where I have been.
