Well, I don't know much about the Leslie Sanson DVDs, but when I was looking into song bpm calculators, one way they said to do it manually would be to walk or tap your foot to the rhythm, and once you have it going, count the number of steps or taps for 15 seconds. Then, multiply that number by 4 to get the bpm. So if the DVD has a consistent beat to it, you could figure out what the beat is and then look for a workout mix that uses the same bpm.
Now, if only there was a way to make a playlist where the music will line up perfectly with my Leslie Sansone DVDs. That way, I can listen to my music while doing her DVDs and still follow the pace of the music.
I love listening to music when I'm doing cardio, and have found that it helps me to maintain a rhythm. I just wanted to share a couple of things that I've found in the past couple of weeks:
-Rock my Run is a great iPhone app that offers free workout mixes - you can search by genre, bpm, length, etc. You can download the mixes so they don't have to stream, which is nice.
-If you want to create your own mix by bpm like I wanted to, you can search any song's bpm at songbpm.com - once I figured out the bpms of my favorite workout songs, I was able to make a couple of my own mixes much more effectively!
