Google Hungry Girl's egg mugs. They call for egg beaters, but you can substitute egg whites for the egg beaters.

Oh my gosh.. Mix a little salt and pepper in your egg whites, then add some chopped jarred jalapeno and shred a little reduced fat cheddar on top and maybe a little salsa.. that's all it takes. They come out super good, and I love the little extra kick in the morning.

I love egg whites, i have them for breakfast every morning. I just sprinkle different spices on them...maybe mix in some fresh tomatoes. Spices are your best friend, use them often and you never get bored.

I have texture issues with Egg Beaters also. I usually use 1 real egg with about 1/2 cup of egg substitute. You can add a little bit of water to them - say 1 teaspoon per 1/4 cup of egg substitute or so to fluff them up a bit. You could do this with egg whites or the egg substitute.

I LOVE mushrooms in my eggs & I also like black beans mixed with eggs - yummy!!

I rarely have just egg whites for that reason. I usually add 1 whole egg with the whites. I don't have health issues nor do I eat eggs enough for it to be a problem. When I do just have whites, I add fresh veggies (saute before adding eggs) and seasonings. There are a lot of salt-free seasonings; right now I use Tone's garlic and herb which has a good flavor.

I use salsa...sometimes I will use a little avocado, peppers, onion, a slice of turkey breast or a little hot sauce!

I have 2 favorite ways. I have high cholesterol so I stick to egg whites.
#1: mix in salsa and diced ham. With LOTS of Cholula, because it's the greatest hot sauce ever.

#2: hash scramble. It's sort of a mish mash of whatever veggies are on their way out in the fridge and your egg whites. You know that half of an onion or green pepper just looking lonely? Dice it up, throw it in with a little diced potato and turkey sausage. Cook it all together and enjoy. Of course subbing what you need to to meet your needs.

I like some dijon mustard with my eggs.

I mostly use a whole egg, alongside 4 or 5 egg whites. I make a vegetable omelette using red onion, courgettes, spinach, tomatoes etc.

You can add a lot of flavour for no calories using herbs and spices. Or if you can spare the calories, adding salsa, ketchup, baked beans, melted cheese all make good toppings.

I don't care for egg whites. I want the whole egg. Even when I scramble my eggs, if I can see a big portion of white that didn't get mixed in, I'll pick it out. LOL

If you use egg whites in a smoothie, make sure to use orange juice. The acidity in the juice kills the stuff in raw eggs that can make you sick. I used to make egg white, orange juice and frozen strawberry smoothies. Yum!

I will also hard boil whole eggs, and then just eat the whites for a quick, on the go snack. I like using lots of veggies and hot sauce when cooking egg whites in scrambled eggs or omlets

I do pepper and mrs. dash or some type of seasoning on them. Add an onion for a little flavor, or onion powder. Cinnamon is a good one too, you may think it is a bit strange but i like it.

You could also try an "EggBeaters" type of product. Read the label, because some have a weird preservatives added, but most of them are just egg whites with vitamin E (probably listed as tocopherol), annatto or some other vegetable for coloring, a vegetable-based thickener like guar gum, and possibly a bit of garlic or onion. The vegetable thickener solves the texture problem, and the coloring makes them look more appealing. I buy the Costco store brand, and they work out to be the same price as I would spend to get the same number of egg white servings from whole eggs when whole eggs aren't on sale.

Like others, I still prefer to have a little of the yolk. I tend to use one whole egg and two servings of the eggbeaters. But on days when the rest of my meals have been a little too high in fat and too low in protein, I'll sometimes have just the eggbeaters and enjoy them, especially if I make them into tacos with some spicy ingredients.

Salsa sounds really good. Mrs. Dash is a really good suggestion. I feel like it needs more "salt". Seasoning is a good idea.

I usually add a little of the yolk to give them a little substance! Like maybe 2 egg whites and half of one yolk. Usually helps...

That protein shake idea was a good one too!

I agree with nutmeg.. whole eggs taste better.. if you absolutely need to stick to egg whites, make sure the mushrroms are dry.. sometimes they have water in them, which makes your omelette bland and watery.. then a small amt. of cheddar might do the trick

I agree with MRSJERRYBUSH, I switched to egg whites and also found them bland, but I add a little bit of salsa and they taste great! I also do the same with my rice.

I love to use fresh herbs in my eggs -- tarragon & basil are 2 favorites. I also like to stir in fresh pico de gallo (faster than chopping up fresh veggies), or some Mrs. Dash in various flavors like Southwest Chipotle or Table Blend.

Savory: small amount of cheese, Mrs. Dash sodium free seasoning, salsa and/or hot read pepper flakes or sauce.

Sweet: cinnamon, crushed nuts and honey

Good suggestions, all. Have you topped them with salsa? That should flavor them up!

4/4/11 11:17 A

Maybe I should add one whole egg to the bunch. The texture is hard to get past. I think that would definitely help.

4/4/11 11:10 A

I do 1 whole egg then like 4 egg whites with veggies

4/4/11 11:09 A

Do you add them to the protein shake raw and then blend it? I'm really scared to try that, but it might actually be better than eating them. lol

Oh, just thought of something else. Egg whites could be added in a protein shake.

4/4/11 11:01 A

Well, I'm eating the whites only at the request of my trainer. They have so much protein, and that way I can eat more and not get all the fat. I'm sure later I can start eating whole eggs again, but I'm so early in the program he wants to change my metabolism.

I've been putting mushrooms in them, and I scramble them. I just feel like they're really bland and it's hard to eat all of them. Maybe I'll try putting more veggies in them. I think some low fat cheese will help too.

I'd eat the whole egg (and I do, several a day emoticon ). Egg yolk contains vitamins A, D, E, and choline. (I think it has more vitamins, but I'm not sure what else.)

If you just don't like the taste of the yolk, you could try mixing in a bit of sweetener to the egg whites.

How are you cooking your eggs? Just plain, or with something else? I always add lots of chopped veggies to mine. I cook the veggies, like mushrooms, peppers, broccoli, and zucchini, with 1/3 tbsp of butter, then I add the egg with a bit of pepper. Once its cooked enough on one side, I either flip it to finish it as an omelet or I add a small amount of cheese and fold in half. I know what you mean about the taste though, and for me, the veggies solve that problem.

For me, I do always eat the whole egg...but I have difficulty getting enough fat in daily so it works for me, and I get to keep the flavor of the yolk

I don't have a link, but theres a "100 ways to cook eggs" article you might try googling for ideas :)

Use whole eggs?

4/4/11 10:29 A

Any suggestions? I love eggs and now I'm just eating the whites. I think they're so bland and I don't want to add too much salt because of the sodium. I added a ton of pepper today, but even that wasn't enough. I feel like it's a texture issue too.
