I lost 55 lbs (1 1/2 years) with weight watchers. It is harder to maintain weight than to lose it. But, this time I will be working the program (w. w.) along with SparkPeople. SparkPeople is the best. I enjoy reading other people struggles and victory. This let me know that I am not enough.
After failing at losing "Those last five pounds" for a decade, I finally joined weight watchers. Between WW and SP, I am getting the information I need to get the last five off, and also maintain. I highly recommend the program. I lost eight pounds between Jan. 1 and Feb. 15, then eight more pounds by mid-April. (I have not updated the ticker below lately, because I didn't want to show the increase in weight!)
Next to WW, another thing that has helped me to maintain is to watch portions sizes and omit sugar treats ( my favorite!). I don't drink alcohol or indulge in chips, so I don't get excess calories from there, but ice cream, cake, donuts, and cookies are my real downfall. I have to stay away from it for a few weeks, then have limited quantities. Maybe not the best tactic, but it works. I have been within 5-10 pounds of my ideal weight since I took nutrition classes in college in 1978.
