Gee - there is a HUGE difference between a veteran and a vegetarian - I have been misreading a lot of words lately:-(

Good luck with your appointments and getting a handle on all of this. I know it isn't easy!

Being a veteran causes a major waiting list for some treatments. I am seeing a dietician in april. I am new to the diabetes world. I did have gestational diabetes twice when I was pregnant in the 80's and 90's. Physical therapy and excercise are being tailored for my needs due to the fact I had to have total hip replacement 2 years ago and I suffer from chronic pain due to arthritis and Lupus. I am not a vegetarian. I am a Veteran. I do use the nutrition tracker. Currently there seems to be a slight difference of agreement between my group practice doctor and the dietician about the amount of carbs that I need.

Thanks for the reply to my message. Lupus is something that I had noway of preventing. Since I was in the military for a long time, I received a lot of shot that could've possibly cause this disease. Diabetes is a desease that runs rampant in my family, both parents grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins I take meds for arthritis, anemia, allergies, acid reflux, chronic pain and menopause. I have the whole package deal. Most of my illnesses are managable. None where caused due to my own fault. DNA is my major culprit. With the meds I take its hard to loose weight or not have mood swings. Lupus causes everything to be worse than it should be.

That sounds nasty. :(

Is this something you know you didn't do right, or a case where you feel like you did do everything right and got hit with the misery anyway? I want to offer something useful, but I know little about lupus and don't have diabetes, so I don't think I can.

Perhaps, if you don't have a Dietitian, it would be beneficial for you to ask your Dr for a referral to one.

Do you use the Nutrition Tracker? If not, then by using it for all food that you consume will help you and/or your Dietitian identify where the problem lays. You mention you are a vegetarian - are you getting a good amount of protein? ....... or are you getting too much carbohydrate?

Thanks for the support. I have tons support in my family and church. I also know that I have more support than I know what to do with online :-). Bein a veteran I am use to being challenged with difficult situations and some days I cope very well and some times not. My worst time is when I can't get outside because of weather or doctors appts. I'm too stubborn to quit. I'm dealing with other health issues as well and sometimes complications due arrise. I pray that your have a painfree night tonight and stay positive. We have too much work left to do before the next presidental election!

I am sorry you had a bad day.

Last night, I was in a lot of pain because I ate something that was not good for my acid reflux. I was mad and crying :(

My family tries to be supportive, but mom doesn't have any health issues.

Do you have any support in real life?
