I definitely agree with seeing a dr first. Don't think it bad because you miss some time to recuperate. Eat healthy while you get better and stay on track that way, then you'll still feel good. I have had back issues for over 30 years and a year ago had 4 discs fused. So be good to yourself and give your body a chance to heal itself. Good luck and keep us posted.
At least wait until you've seen the doctor. If they're sure it's just a strain and not a disk injury and they say it's all right, you might find that walking actually helps. When I had lower back pain, the only time it didn't hurt was when I was walking! I couldn't sit, and lying down was iffy, but walking loosened things up.
But you need to see a doctor and rule out serious injury first, and then remember that what works for one person doesn't always work for another.

I agree with Coach Jen. If you can barely move, exercise is the last thing you should be considering. If you try to exercise with your back in its current weakened state, you risk making the injury worse than it already is.
NO ONE will consider you a slacker because you have to take a few days off from your routine to recover from a back injury.
As my yoga instructor likes to say,"Don't abuse".
Let me put it to you this way. Would you rather take a few days off now to let your back recover or do you want to take two months off later to recover from possible surgery ? Because that's what can happen if you try to work through the pain.
Trust me, take time off. When your chiropractor gives you the all clear to exercise, you can slowly ease back into a routine.
If you can barely move, I wouldn't try to push it with exercise. You're better off resting and letting your back recover, and then you can get back into a regular exercise routine.

I've hurt my lower back stepping on and off my Wii fit board... I guess I just did too much all at once... Going to my first chiropractor tomorrow. I can barely move going on day two but really would like to do some form of exercise... Any suggestions for exercises I can do that doesn't involve any jerking or bending of the waist? Thank you!
