Yes, sugars can be very attractive to water, metabolically. Read into that: *all* sugars, not just HFCS. It's the worst, and the most popular in current thought. But most sugars can have similar effects.
And you're right - it's in EVERYthing. Not only that, but manufacturers have found insidious little methods of naming a variety of sugars so they can list them separately in their ingredient lists without our being aware that the majority of what's in our processed foods is *sugar*.
The FDA (or whoever regulates such things) really ought to make them 'fess up.
So went to the doc thinking I may need vitamins since I have already lost weight, also to be checked for diabetes since thirsty is a sign, To my surprise, tests turned out normal But after the doc reviewed the food journal I have been keeping suspected High Fructose Corn syrup as the culprit. I Don't drink soda! She told me it is found in just about everything from jams to fruit juice to some yogurts, bread and cereals! I was tested for allergies and found to be sensitive to HFCS! So now reading labels more carefully to avoid it. There is so little choices to choose from!
