Hi and welcome! People are mentioning teams because that's where we get buddies, friends, motivation, accountability, encouragement and SOO much more! Teams is the easiest way we can find people that live in the same area as we do, or the same hobbies, or interests or even the same exercise plans or buddies that want to keep one another on track. I for one am a member of 12 teams for all different reasons and have to say I would not have lost my 128 pounds without them. Good luck on your journey and if your looking for friends and you don't want to join teams you can look through blog posts and people that interest you you can add them as your friends (the add is on there sparkpage toward the top), I say this because if they are writing blogs they are active members. Again good luck on your journey

Hello all,

I've been on all kinds of diets over the past couple decades, sometimes with great success (100+ pounds lost). But each time I've eventually fallen back on old habits and gained the weight back and then some. This past Thanksgiving I weighed my heaviest at 400 pounds and here I am again. Part of me feels like a 4 time divorcee saying to his new bride - "This time, honey, I'm really committed". Yeah right. But I need to make it happen this time. I sense my mortality more than ever. I want to live to see my grand kids.

I've been using My Fitness Pal, and developed a real nice set of friends. But I kept running into SparkXXX in various web searches and such and decided to give it a try. I've gone through the start guide, created a SparkPage, started logging my food, joined some teams. What I think I really need are some friends, though, who log their food and exercise and check up on me and my logging as well. That's what I liked the most about MFP. I really haven't seen people asking for or offering to be friends here - they point to the teams and such. What is the accountability paradigm on SP?
