Yes, you will start to lose condition after a week without working out. Even if things are crazy, even working out once a week can help at least maintain fitness levels. (Don't mean to beat up on you, just a general message about prevention).
Because of unrelated health reasons I did very little exercising over the past 9 months. I lost it all. In the first quarter of last year I ran 2 marathons and 5 half marathons. Right now I can't even run 2 minutes without hurting. Hope both of us can get back to where we were rapidly.
This seems normal to me. I've taken two weeks off and had to decrease weight by more than 25% to return to exercise. The bright spot is that is that strength and endurance will come back quicker than it took you to build it in the first place. Just do the best you can and you'll catch back up.
It makes you appreciate how fit you really were before you stopped!

Well, I was running for 45 minutes straight at 10,000 feet above sea level. And then I stopped for 5 weeks, and when I started up again, I had to go back to running 2 minutes and walking 5 and then work my way back up.
The same with weight lifting, I was up to squatting 100 lbs, but then I stopped for six months and had to go back to the beginning with just the bar and start all over again.
Can one of the Spark Trainers tell me if it's normal to lose a LOT of strength and endurance from just a month of little exercise? I was doing 3x Crossfit with a day or two of 2 mile runs a week for close to a year. I took December off and now it feels like I'm back at the beginning! And it doesn't just feel like that. I've compared my time and weights on some benchmark workouts and I've gotten a LOT worse :(
First of all, I am NEVER taking that long of a exercise break again! But more importantly, does that seem normal?
