I am glad that you are losing and that your pace is what is fitting for your body. Keep up the good work. As long as you are doing it right and taking things in the right strides then your weight loss will be for the long haul. Praying for your continued success!! emoticon

Nobody went to "complaining". Nobody said that.

And yes it was 2.5 - "This means that since Mon. I have lost exactly two pounds. Maybe by Mon. (exactly one week since I started SP) it will be 2 1/2."

So that's 2.0 lost already, and hoping that in a period of just one week it will be 2.5.

That is what people responded to - the concept that that is "slow and steady" weight loss, when actually it's very rapid.

It was more about the "slow and steady" being a 2 lb weight loss in a week. That's not slow at all. :) I didn't read that as a complaint, I was just responding to the idea that is was slow... it's not!

Congrats on your weight loss so far, but don't expect to lose this much on a weekly basis! Like others have said, 2.5 pounds is pretty rapid weight loss. It will slow down, so don't get discouraged.

Thank you all for your responses. I appreciate you for sending them. In my post I was not bemoaning the fact that I've lost two pounds since Mon. but rather enjoying the fact that I have. I'm good with 1-2 pounds a week and am comfortable with this rate of loss. I reread my post and can see how it sounded as if I was "complaining" that two pounds in six days was slow.

Not at all. So thank you much for your concern, encouragement and information.

Yes, sorry, 2.5 a week is phenominally fast, and at your current weight I would say too high for me. You really need to be aiming for around a pound week, maybe a little bit more.

The less there is to lose, the slower the body wants to lose it. Not only are you not on the BL, but you don't weigh anything near what they do!

A safe and healthy goal for an 81kg woman would be 1-1.5 pounds per week. You're exceeding that. Don't commiserate in your slow loss. Celebrate your rapid loss while you can still achieve it. It will not last.

Slow compared to what?

This is not the biggest loser. Those kinds of weight losses simply aren't typical. TV has led us to believe that 1 or 2 lbs per week is bad, or slow, when that's the healthy, sustainable rate you should expect and try for.

Be careful about day-to-day readings. Your weight can fluctuate wildly in the course of a day, fat loss takes longer than 24 hours!

Um yeah, 2.5lbs a week is not slow whatsoever. That's actually a lot. This isn't the biggest loser where you can expect to lose 20lbs in a week. It's taken me about a year to lose 45lbs....that's less than a pound a week. When I was actively trying to lose weight I was at about 1.5lbs a week.

2.5 lbs is not slow..lol. I am down 2.2 since Sunday, and it has been a great week for me. Most people aim for 1-2 lbs a week. I lost .4 today also, but it is pretty consistent, and it adds up.

I am at 145 lbs lost , and it has been about 194 weeks to lose it. Many ups and downs. Averaging 1 lb a week over time is not that easy. Just keep losing 2.5 lbs a week, and that is 45 lbs by June.

I am continually surprised at how my weight loss is going, slow and steady. I guess I'm the tortoise in this race. This morning, after having Jimmy John's for supper, I am DOWN .4. This means that since Mon. I have lost exactly two pounds. Maybe by Mon. (exactly one week since I started SP) it will be 2 1/2. I'm happy with that. "Slow and steady won the race."
