Great to hear from you Nancy!!

7 weeks to go til baby is "due". We're all better now - no more colds or sinus infections...YAY!!!

I can't wait for spring since I live only half a block to the biggest park in town and the town trail runs right beside my apt. It will be so nice to get the kids out again =] The park has to wait til the end of spring though since it's in the lowest end of town and it's beside the the river - it always floods real bad and then takes forever to dry up once the flooding stops.

Sounds like you had a great time last week!! Not sure what I'm going to do with my older boy's for March Break yet. Some of the planning depends on the weather and the rest depends on their moods LOL. Twins are easy going thankfully, they just like getting out and seeing new things.

I met with my counsellor and my dietician yesterday for the 1st time. Both are free programs ran by public health so hey why not? With my counsellor my goal is to improve my self esteem and with my dietician my goal at the moment is to improve my veggie/fruit intake. I also go for B12 injections which I just got great news and now instead of going weekly, I can now go monthly for it =] I HATE needles!!! So this is exciting news for me LOL. I have to go and get tested again in 3 months to see if I need to up or lower my dosage or just stay the same. Eventually the goal is to be able to just take the vitamin tablets again but my levels were too low previously that it wasn't absorbing.

Anyways...I've been avoiding getting the garbage and recycling ready for my bf to take outside and it's getting late LOL - time to get it done!!

Have a great week!!

Trina

Hi!!
Sorry!! I feel bad for not checking this thread!! I was thinking everyone that was here had joined the team already!!
***Now its my turn to feel bad for not checking this thread. It is so nice to have someone actually respond. So many of the sites are 1 word responses. When I first read this site, I thought it would be a good conversational, support site. Then it seemed so dormant. I just saw your response a few minutes ago and wish I had seen it and responded to it sooner.***

Weather here has been nasty til today. 2 snow days for the kids already this week!!
***We had a few days of delightful weather, but today, Feb 27, is chilly, overcast and it started lightly snowing a few minutes ago.***

We've been all hit with a head cold and mine turned into a sinus infection so that's been a chore in itself to get rid of.
^^^Hope your cold is now history.***

How was the pottery painting?
^^^A fun activity. I did a rectangular plate to use as a playing card holder. Others are more creative and did things for other people.***
I would have to agree it is peaceful. Sometimes it's nice just get out and slow down and enjoy what you're doing. Too many people are a constant go go go all the time and before they know it - they've missed out on so much. I'd prefer to do a quiet activity about 0% of the time that I can get out and do something. Just the change of pace from 4 kids (soon to be 5).

***No wonder you are busy and in the go-go mode all of the time. I was too when I had a husband, 3 kids, a dog, a full-time job and taking a college course. But the time passes quickly. If you can find a pottery place or even a place to buy unpainted greenware or even a craft form or a cake decorating or candy making form and plaster to make your own, and some paint, it is a great way to occupy kids in the summer. The pottery place will generally fire the painted object which gives a nice finished look (and hides a lot of mistakes). My friend has been taking her grandson since he was about 2. I’ve said many times I’d take my grandchildren, but with 8 it gets complicated and expensive. I think I will take 4-6 of them during spring break since the 2 out-of-staters will be visiting me. We shall see. Won’t make any commitments or tell any of the kids about it yet. Kids get expectations and then I’d have to deal with, “you promised.”***

How did it go with the "strangers"?
***Always fun to meet new people. At this particular brunch I thought I’d see someone I actually knew before, but I didn’t. I did meet someone who lives a mile or so away and had some good conversation about home repairs & renovations, two-story vs ranch home as one ages, and searching through genealogy. Then had “linner” with person from 4th grade Chicago neighborhood. (We are now in our 60s so that was a while back.) We had lunch a a railroad themed diner. He is big into railroading and model trains. I have always liked model trains, have a Lionel in the attic, and I worked for a railroad in Chicago. So we have some interests in common. I took him to a rather extensive model train specialty shop after “linner.” I see him once or twice a year when he is passing through Ctrl IN, so it is kinf of fun each time.***

How's things going for you so far this week??
***Always fabulous. Went to fitness ctr Mon & Tue, and maybe Sun too. That was good. I usually feel better and am more mobile the next day. Wed (today) is usually a slow day for me.
Well, Trina, I hope you are having a decent day with all of the activity in your life. There is only 1 day left in Feb and once March comes, Spring pops up before you know it. The kids will soon be bringing bouquets of those pretty little yellow harbingers of spring call dandelions.***

Good morning folks. I really don't want to dominate a site with my lame comments and observations. I view this site as conversational rather than 1 word, but conversation is not a monologue and takes more than 1 person. Perhaps I seek conversation because I am a single interpersonal person rather than preferring the solitude of an analytical. At any rate....

It is a beautiful day in Ctrl IN - sun is shini8ng brightly which means perhaps we will have a little solar energy raising the temp above the current 18. Today and tomorrow are my interpersonal days - big time. Today I will be joining old and new friends painting pottery. A friend does it regularly, I've done it twice. At first it sounded kind of silly and childish, especially for a work team bldg event for oncology drs, nurses, mgmt, and administration. But they enjoyed it. The enjoyment is in the stress-free creativity. So if you are in a position to have a team bldg event, pottery painting is good. I've set up team bldg events for international and US mgmt level, but they were more assertive events. Pottery painting is peaceful.
So that's today along with lunch at one of those Kamikaze places where they throw knives and spatulas around while cooking your meal.

Tomorrow it is brunch with strangers who may become new acquaintances followed by "linner" (late lunch/early dinner) with a blast from the past (old Chicago neighborhood).

So, I will have to watch what I eat - stick to the vegetables, salads, and fruits mostly. I didn't get to the fitness ctr yesterday, may stop in before totally passing it by on the way home, and probably won't make time for it at all tomorrow. At least today I was still holding. So we shall see by Friday for a challenge weigh-in if caution at the point of ingress pays off.
Have a beautiful Sunday,

Cool.

Just kidding with the 1 word. It is a beautiful day in Ctrl IN - well a little chilly at 22 and a little gray, but it is Spring is coming gray not like yesterday's its still winter gray.
I went to fitness ctr yesterday and thought just maybe some of my efforts of last week would start paying off. No such luck. I held at 192 for weeks before hitting 190. Now it looks like I am holding at 190 for awhile. At least my clothes are fitting better.
I'm not really here to lose wt. Well, that's not exactly a fact. I really am here more for healthy eating in general. Losing a few symbols of obesity will be a very good positive side effect. I have a mobility health issue that makes walking difficult so the holding pattern is understandable.
I have a couple of errands to do and some house stuff (never ending clutter shuffle - hey a new dance craze the Clutter Shuffle) but maybe I'll squeeze in a trip to the fitness ctr, unless I go tomorrow. Tomorrow - always the hope for a thinner future, but yesterday's tomorrow is now today so I guess the future sneaks up on you quickly.
Have a great day folks,

I'll participate in your supp-ort group. I'd like a place where people can commuunicate between each other and help each other with support, experience, knowledge successes and not so successful. I'd preefer a site that doesn't have 1 word responses.

I started a group of my own last Spring called The Little Team That Could with the purpose of having my own little support group without having to spend lots of time trying to keep up with everyone. I figured if we were all in a little group we could all keep in touch at once and cut down on the time it would take to check in with everyone.

Over the last couple months the motivation and determination in the group has been dwindling. Of course most came back regularly around the new year but it's hard to have the support you need if the people you're counting on don't log in.

So what kind of members am I looking for?? Preferably people that can check no less than every 2 or 3 days but more often would be best. People that are interested in doing fun challenges, and people not afraid to give input about just anything in general. Input on topics and on challenges and whatever else.

Most of the people already in this group already struggle with something in one way shape or form that has contributed to why they're overweight and are trying to overcome these struggles. Mine is self esteem issues and I dealt with a lot of abuse as a child and currently I'm about to have baby #5 so I'm a busy mom that works for herself. Others work graveyard shifts and struggle balancing work and family and proper sleep, and others have to eat on the go since they're case workers or nurses or what not and eat in the car, while others have health problems (a few have low thyroid and get they're frustrated because they don't see the results others see and it's discouraging). let's be honest - we all have our reasons we're here and it's about owning up to what's gotten us this big and learn to either let go, or learn to adapt to it.

If you're at all curious about joining my support group please click on the link in my signature and check it out. There's only a handful of active members even though it says 49 members. I'd like to have at least 3 or 4 new serious members that can commit to the group and contribute regularly.

I'm the kind of person that if I don't have a strong support system I start to fall back into old habits and I really want to meet my goals and I hope I can help you meet yours too!!
