I was in that same spot just 1 week ago!! I have depression and anxiety and after having 2 new babies back to back I just gave p on my body!!I let myself go and couldn't seem to drag myself out of the hole!! On May 31st (my youngest 9month birthday) I just couldn't take it anymore so I made my husband take me to get a 2 year membership at 24 hour fitness from Costco. I activated it and have been everyday since to the gym!!!Also I started tracking my food on spark and measuring just about everything I eat!!My first weigh in is this Saturday -I think your decision to post is the first step!!Take babysteps and you can get to where you want to be!!You can add me ass a friend and am willing to go on this journey with you! I am giving myself 2 years to lose120 pounds -so 60 a year!!! Crystal (I am a mom of 5 kids)

My compliments for reaching out and posting here! An important first step!
What you describe sounds like depression. Maybe it helps to do some research about depression. I would be very wary though to take psychiatric medications as there´s proof that they make the problems worse in the long run. There are non-medication ways though to help you get out of depression. One of them is... exercise, preferably exercise in the fresh air. Just ten minutes of walking, - if you can do it around noon time - might really help if you do it for a week or two.
I also suggest you create a spark page and join a few teams, start blogging and posting more. You will get interaction with others that way and once you have a few friends, you may feel better and more supported.

Welcome to Spark People ! Let me assure you that you are NOT alone !! If you ever need support, post in the forums and the Spark community will be there to support you. We might not always be there immediately, but as the day progresses, more members will reply.
I give all new members one piece of advice and it's this,"Don't look at good health with an all or nothing mentality". If the only healthy thing you did for yourself today was drink 8 glasses of water, that's still a step in the right direction. remember, you're trying to change habits learned over a life time. That's not going to happen overnight, a week, a month or even a year. Change takes time. thus the need to be patient with yourself and your body. NO ONE ever became a healthy eater overnight. it's impossible.
That's why SP encourages its members to start with simple changes first. Don't try to do everything at once or you will end up frustrated. Set some simple goals first. Example, if you're not eating 6-9 servings of fresh fruit and veggies, set a goal to eat 2-3 servings each day for one week. If you're not drinking 8 glasses of water, set a goal to drink 2-4 glasses each day for one week. if you're not exercising, don't start with an hour a day, set a goal to take a 30 minute walk each day for one week. Once you've achieved these goals, then you start new ones.
And this is how we learn to create healthier behaviors.
You've already taken your first step by introducing yourself. Now, I'm going to encourage you to read and reply to posts in the forums. You'll learn a lot from your fellow members. Posting on the forums really is a great way to meet new people. I have tons of cyber buddies !!! If you can finish creating your Spark page, you can add me too.
Be kind to yourself as you would to others !

Hi, I have never written a message on any web site before, however I'm stuck in a hopeless. Spirall and don't seem to be able to get myself motivated to do positive things to make life bearable and to get a healthier routine. I know that sounds desperate and sometimes that is how I feel, yet I know that if I just did some exercise everyday, ate healthy food and most importantly had contact with another human being things would be ok, but it seems I'm finding it overwhelmingly difficult to contact anyone, to speak to a friend, or even make new ones, to join a club or do anything. Even nice things are not being done, I'm just sitting, eating and hiding and I don't know how to make myself break this pathetic cycle of nothingness. Also when I have managed to say exercise and eat healthier, I still don't seem to manage to fit anything else in, it's as though there is no time and yet here I sit letting the time slip as my life slips away, another part of it is that other people seem to demand all my time, which is not true as I don't see anyone, even at work, only a few hours a week, I don't talk to the others, and my partner does not make huge demands on me, so where does this idea that there is no time come from. I realise this is very negative and people want to hear uplifting stories, which hopefully one day I will post one, but for now if there is anyone who knows how this feels, or can relate to any of this and give me some way of kick starting my motivation I would truly appreciate your advice. I'm sorry to be so unhappy at the moment, it's been so long now I don't know how to start.
