Yeah. I think any woman who has a period goes thru this. It happens and it sucks but you should know that it's just water weight, not fat. Unless of course you're really overeating. But after that TOM it will go back to normal. Hang in there!!
My hormonal time is incredibly miserable, and I gain anywhere from 5-10 pounds! I've spoken to my doctor about this and he assures me that it is PERFECTLY NORMAL. During that time I simply exercise a little harder, drink a little more water, and pamper myself a little more. Most of the swelling is in my waist and breasts, and the exercise/increased water intake does seem to help. I feel for you! :)

This happens to many, many women, including me. I weigh at LEAST 5 lbs more when Iím having my period, sometimes more.
Have you thought at all about why this bothers you so much? Weight fluctuation is natural part of your hormonal cycle, and itís not like the weight is permanentóthe bloat, annoying as it is, will be gone in a week. Period weight is a good example of a situation in which the number on the scale is clearly pretty meaningless. Maybe try to focus more on the fact that, hey, your body is functioning just as it should and doiní its lady thing! That's always something to be grateful for.
I found that drinking as much water as I can stand to drink helps since water is a natural dieuretic. Also, taking Premarin and Ibuprofen before my period helped to minimize cramping. Since I know that I will gain a few pounds, I don't worry about it since I also know it will drop right off when PMS symptoms go away. Works every time!

Very rarely since I've been on Mirena. I get very minimal PMS symptoms. I used to gain a pound when I weighed more but my weight doesn't really fluctuate any more from PM hormones at the weight I am now. At least nothing noticeable.

Like clockwork! It's classic.
I even get my only real cravings for junk food and chocolate right before my period, and frankly some times I just give in and have some, because for goodness' sake if I'm doing great 27 days out of every 28, who really cares about that extra one. :) I also wear looser clothing - but sociologists have known for decades that women tend to dress the most comfortably during their period, and the most revealing clothes come out during ovulation. It's hormonal and just subconscious. Don't worry about it or try to change what biology made in this case! :)
Also, just don't weigh yourself during that time, really. Honestly, it's 2 pounds. It's nothing in the grand scheme of things. And it's temporary. The only thing that happens is that you get stressed and upset.

It happens to me pretty consistently since starting my medication (same hormones as birth control). I'll gain about 3/4 of a pound a week for the 3 weeks I'm "on" (which means I gain ~2-2.5 lbs), and then I'll lose that quickly over the fourth week without the hormones.
I weigh, but I only really pay attention to the weight loss tat occurs over the 4 week period between cycle pt to cycle pt. For example, if I'm doing a 12 week thing, I only compare week 1 with weeks 5 and 9, I compare week 2 with week 6 and 10, Week 3 compares with 7 and 11, and then week 4 is with 8 and 12. That way, the bloat of my cycle isn't a lurking variable in my weight stats.
That ALWAYS happens to me, and I do not eat a lot of sodium. I just take the higher numbers for those few days and don't take them seriously! If its normal and consistent nothing to beat yourself up over.

Don't let it bother you, and just don't weigh yourself when you know it's coming! I bloat, I'm cranky and miserable, and when I was losing weight, I didn't weigh myself around that time because seeing the increase in my weight would just piss me off that much more, haha.
Kinda, but I don't let it bother me because I know it won't stick. Maybe try cutting out as much salt as possible around your period?

During "that time of the month", I put on anywhere from 2-5 pounds and I feel HUGE. I've taken different OTC meds before (like Midol) and nothing combats the bloat for me. I always gain at least a few pounds and it's so discouraging when I don't change my eating or workout habits but for a week or so during the month, I'm even bigger than normal. Anyone else have this issue?
