I stay in my bed for 8 hours every night but not usually asleep! I don't notice a change in weight gain or loss.

I usually sleep for 7 hours and am well-rested on that amount. I do wake often though, ever since my first pregnancy I don't believe I've had a single night I've slept straight through.

The reason it can be more difficult to lose weight from lack of sleep is because people are more likely to eat when having trouble sleeping and skip their workout the following day. If you're not finding yourself heading for a midnight snack and are not lacking energy the following day, it shouldn't be anything to worry about.

Now that I am out of college, I usually get anywhere from 7-9 hours of sleep, depending on how tired I am. When I was going to school, there was that one night a semester where I would pull an all nighter to get things done (which I know isn't the best thing to do.) It hasn't affect my weight too much, especially in college since I was pretty active by walking a good amount to all of my classes.

I'm happy with 7 hours a night but sometimes it can be as low as 4 (woo deadlines). For me it's not so much that lack of sleep slows down my weight loss through any direct metabolic process but because I'm sleep deprived, I have less energy to put into my workouts and less will power to not have a muffin and latte at starbucks instead of a proper breakfast.

I know it's important to get enough sleep every night but sometimes we are just unable to. Have you still been able to lose weight while not getting enough sleep? I've read the articles on here about how people usually gain weight and that weight loss gets hindered. How much sleep do you usually get per night?

I don't always get enough sleep but when I eat junk food, I eat it in portion sizes and I keep them in moderation. I'm surprised I've still been able to lose weight regardless..Its been slower lately but still coming along.
