Welcome! Love that southern sweet tea. I don't live in the south--good thing. Tapering off is a good idea because when I have done it too fast (sugar/caffeine) then the headache that comes is miserable. That way you can be putting a good habit in place where you would usually be doing the cafeine/sugar combo. Drink the 8 glasses of water and that helps and do drink it as water or you will be counting the very things that you are trying to stop doing...see the dilemma for you! Welcome to SP

WELCOME TO SPARK!!! Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time.
A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.
1. Put together your own Spark page. This is a great way to communicate with other members and build relationships that will support and motivate you. You can do this by going to the START page and the green section has something about your Sparkpage.
2. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.
3. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.
The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. It's been my experience, also a sugar lover, that by slowly decreasing the amount of sugar I put in my coffee, there wasn't a shock to the system. I went from 3 tsps to 1/2 of a tsp, gradually.
I did cut out sodas completely from my diet. Every once in a while, I do treat myself to a glass, but never more than that. It would be too easy to fall back into the habit if I allowed myself more.

I just signed up today, but am worried I will sabatoge myself! I have a major problem with sugar and caffiene. I can honestly say that I drink most of my calories and sugars. Tea, coffee and soda are my biggest enemy and biggest habits. I'm a sugar and caffiene junky! Any advice? I have never really tried to come off either so I'm not sure how difficult it will really be, but I do know that I will miss the sugar at first. Don't really enjoy black coffee or unsweetened tea. Southern girl here! Hehe
