Kayaking is fun! My brother bought one for his wife for her birthday so I got to try it. When I saw your title KAYAK, I thought you were talking about the online travel system.

Before my wife and I were married, I told her about my love for kayaking. She told me that she would be too afraid to give it a try. I explained to her that it was pretty darn safe and convinced her to at least go to the lake and sit in mine. To make a long story short ..... I couldn't get her out of it. She loved it! Within a month I purchased her a kayak and now we're having a lot of fun paddling together.

I have the sit-upon and I'm on the east coast of Florida. Love it!! and I'm able to drop it in the river quite frequently. I've been dying for the pedal type, but they are much more expensive. Have seen several of them on Crane Creek and the owners love them. You can keep going much longer, since you can rotate between arms and legs or do them all together.I got mine at West Marine, but there are many places. It's a great idea to go out and try a few rentals so you can be sure you're getting something you will enjoy.
I rented a paddleboard, thinking I would like one, but after trying them I found that I much prefer my kayak. It's all about your personal preference.

I would love to buy a kayak! I've tried out both the sit in and the sit on and definitely prefer to sit in, but it's personal preference.

I have an inflatable kayak that I love! With a battery operated pump I have it inflated in 10 minutes and off I go! Lightweight and doesn't take lots of storage room or a big truck to haul around.

I live in the S.E. part of WA State, and it gets very hot here...so my favorite time to kayak is in the Fall. Three days ago I kayaked in a plastic boat for about 14 miles on the Yakima River. The water was fast in parts, but the depth of the water prevented me from seeing these very large rocks until my kayak was up on top. I managed not to tip over. The river had a lot of bad weeds growing in it.

I love kayaking so much that I paddled from Florida to New Hampshire to my 30 year reunion. By myself. It was a fantastic trip!

That sounds like so much fun - especially right now - it's still late winter here and summer activities seem like a long ways away. I've done a fair amount of kayaking in Hawaii and love it. Have fun choosing your new toy!

My husband and I got a tandem ocean kayak for our anniversary last year and it is AWESOME! Since we sit on top of it (rather than inside) our two dogs can ride with us! We got little life jackets for them and everything! Hope you find the perfect one for you!

I've always wanted one... when we move, I'm planning on getting one, because we're moving about a mile away from a river!

One day!

My heart's desire is a kayak! Several of my friends have them. But, they scared me away a bit when they said that you actually wear them rather than sit on them or in them. They all said to buy the best double ended paddle that you can afford (and some of them cost as much as the kayak!).
Good luck! Hope you find the perfect one.

I went to the kayak distributor in Winter Haven Florida this morning. They had so many to choose from that I ended up taking home a few booklets to check things out. They even make kayaks with fins on the bottom and you peddle like a bike. Pretty neat when you get tired of the oars you can paddle. What a great work out that would be :)
