For me, the adventure happens when I get more involved with people. You need to find a role where YOU feel that you're doing something important. If your role (whether its volunteer or paid) is one where it doesn't really matter if you show up -- either someone else will do it, or the work can wait until you come back-- it's hard to feel like you're making a difference, and that can lead to thinking "what's the point?" And, if the role has no challenge for you, then you can think, "where's the adventure?"

But, there are lots of organizations that are crying out for people who are willing to work like "unpaid staff" where they HAVE to show up, and they HAVE to get their work done, or the organization doesn't meet the needs of its clients.

That's where the adventure is!

I actually initiated this thread and wanted to respond.

Pomaria1 - Inspiration to take the next steps is sometimes difficult for other people to understand. I believe that what you were asking....was for someone to throw you a lifesaver to grab so that you can pull yourself out of the mud!

I must admit to being disappointed in the lack of response from this site. But, the topic we are addressing is not related to weight management. And, we may be looking in the wrong place for encouragement of this nature.

Truthfully, I think that the real answer lies within and that we just have to do "it." Something unexpected and new. No analysis, just movement.

Best,
J

I guess change is hard. I have no right to complain, thanks for all your insight. It was a boost for me.

"Kids are grown and sold business so I'm not having any more adventures! "

Great gravy... that is PERFECT for having adventures!

Hi, I'm so very new to this, actually never responded before, but your message hit home for me. I know exactly how you feel. I have been working out and seem to be gaining weight. I'm not in terrible shape but everything is starting to hurt, knees, back, and I feel I have this mid section that just keeps getting bigger. Kids are grown and sold business so I'm not having any more adventures! Trying to keep busy volunteering, but just feel stuck in the mud!! Let me know if you find anything that helps!!

Been working out for a couple of years and proud of that accomplishment. But I keep feeling that I'm not "making my life an adventure." Knowing there are many more years behind than in front keep me stuck in the mud instead of inspiring me. Fear! Reading about people that get past this dilemma helps...but I need to take a step...and do the unexpected. Wish I was a different person in that regard!
