Love runkeeper for my walks and jogs! I turn on pandora and get great workout music and up to date exercise stats as I go!

No problem... Happy to help. FYI, leaving cell voice on and turning off Wifi while running will improve GPS while avoiding data usage. And as I mentioned below, I strongly recommend getting Mapswithme. That app lets you download great maps while you're in a wifi network that you can use offline. The GPS will still work so you can map your current location on a detailed map while cell data is off.

Yes, run keeper will still give you feedback even with cell data turned off. The only thing that you won't get by turning off cell data is a real time map. However, the map will appear once you reconnect with Wi-Fi and download it.

I've used run keeper in the past, but since I found Map My Run it does everything as run keep then some.

Thanks for the excellent info. Will Runkeeper still "talk" to me every 5 minutes with the data turned off? I like that feature. Again, thanks for the FYI. Love to save on data!

FYI, you can minimize data usage by turning off cell data while running. If you don't care about seeing the map while you're running, you don't need cell data. When you get home or near Wi-Fi, you can download the maps. This is how I manage my data usage when traveling outside United States. I use a separate app called maps with me that lets me download an off-line map in case I get lost and need to see where I am. You actually don't need the cell data for the GPS function, just to download maps.

I used RunKeeper once, loved it, but it used up a ton of my data so I can't use it anymore. Ugh.

I like many features on Endomondo better and the pro version pricing is much cheaper, but I hate that robotic voice. RK sounds human. If Endo gets a better voice, I'd probably switch back.

I tried Runkeeper, Mapmyrun, and Endomondo when I first started walking.

Runkeeper is ok but it doesnt have a lot community features. This a must for me.

Mapmyrun has the most features, but I found it to be very complicated to use. After every work out you have to go back and manually edit your route. There are a ton of editing options, but no instructions on how to use them. A couple of youtube vids would be nice. Nice app, but way too technical for me.

Endomondo fit me perfectly. It has 11 million members and is growing fast. You can compete and set challenges against any one of those 11 million. Its really easy to navigate around this app.

There is another app called mapmywalk which works really well. Does anyone know of an app that can track steps instead of routes? Kind of like a pedometer.

Love RK! I paired it with wireless bluetooth sports headphones for a perfect run. No wires and I get music and auditory run stats feedback.

Oh YES! It's the best! I used to wear an MP3 player on one arm, a Body Bugg on the other arm, a big huge Garmin on my wrist, and a run/walk timer clipped to my pants. Too many gadgets! Ever since I got a SmartPhone I can do all that with RunKeeper... Makes my runs much more enjoyable!

I am addicted to the Runkeeper app! Are any of you Sparkpeeps using it? It's the same feeling as when I got addicted to the Nutrition Tracker. Once you start, you can't stop. What a fantastically wonderful thing!!!
