Jump rope is a great exercise... it works the entire body. If you are a beginner you could try a test the t I gave my mom to do... she haven't workout in over a year and a half...so to get her back in the groove of things I told her to jump for a count of 20. Now if she mess up then she would have to start back from 1. It took her several tries but about 7 minutes later she did it. The following day she increased her goal from 20 to 30. You could try that instead of focusing on the actual minutes. Hope it helps...good luck.

Start slowly, as with any new exercise. Jumping rope is great exercise, but it's also fairly strenuous and gets your heart rate up pretty quickly. I'm in pretty good shape and I would start with 5 minutes to see how that felt.
