I attempted the 30 Day shred when I was a beginner, made it through the entire first day without breaking but was so sore for the next 4-5 days, I couldn't strength train the entire time. So I decided to stick to my reg strength training and try the video again in 3 months.
I started it again beginning of Dec. I was sore for the first 24 hours after the first day but didn't experiencing much soreness after that, minimal when I began level 2. I do level 2 day 8 tomorrow. I do the workout as a "warm up" (haha, an intense warm up) to my regular strength training so I do the workout every other day (not consecutive days). For level 1 I used 5 lbs weights and for level 2 I'm using 8 lbs weights. I don't finish all the reps and take a few seconds of a break and start up again and get a couple "sets" in rather than just low weights, lots of reps which is generally better for building strength/muscle. I am also doing Banish Fat Boost Metabolism as my cardio concurrent with the 30 day shred.
As far as losing weight, my weight loss is what to be expected with doing any cardio/strength training. Diet is 80% of weight loss any way.
What I am noticing is serious muscle tone. Much more effective than just my reg. ST alone was doing. The last 6 weeks the tone of my body has improved big time. My strength and endurance has greatly improved as well and I have now moved into intermediate-advanced exercises in my strength training this week with heavier weights. I just upped the intensity of my ST routine this week 2 fold and expect to see even greater results in the next 6 weeks.
I am seeing muscles now I never knew I had!! My shoulders and arms are looking amazing and I have to double take when I see myself in the mirror in a tank top. I haven't been able to wear one for the last couple years becauses my arms, armpits, chest and shoulders were so flabby. I cannot believe the improvement in just 6 weeks of doing these two videos. My legs are also getting ripped and my abs are getting really hard, my obliques are solid (but I still have my pregnancy pooch in the middle and lower abs which I'm trying to take care of through my diet and a calorie deficit).
Once I'm done the shred, I plan on replacing it with JM's 6 weeks to a Six Pack and doing my upper and lower body exercies on the same day (right now I do 2 muscle groups per ST day). So I'll be getting 3-4 days a week of upper/lower/core (fully body) rather than only 2 days of each. After that I'm going to do Killer Buns and Thighs.
I've heard a lot of people criticizing her workouts and saying they're just cardio and won't do much for toning/buiding muscle/strength. Well I've seen the results and I'm a believer now. I find myself often flexing in front of mirror and admiring my new muscles and tone now. lol
"Toning" is marketing muscles to women who are afraid if they pick up a barbell, they'll leave the gym looking like She-Hulk. It doesn't happen, what does happen is you get results. Lifting Barbie weights does nothing but waste time.

I just bought Jillian Michaels killer buns and thighs from Costco. Level one with easier modifications was just enough to get that good sweat but not where I feel like I'm going to to be too achy for the days after. The workouts remind me as Jillian says as well of old school workouts on VHS yet with modern music, models, and good intervals. I just wish her DVDs had a timer on the bottom to tell you next exercise and how long. Anyone have any info on that?

I did the 30 Day Shred a few years ago, it helped me lose 30 pounds (while eating healthy, of course). I've done No More Trouble Zones (high reps and low weights really doesn't do much but my lower body and core were usually sore the next day). I did Ripped in 30, intense but again, high reps low weight doesn't do much for the upper body. I really like Ripped in 30 though. I'm doing Killer Buns & Thighs now AND I LOVE IT. So intense but it's great. I'm also doing Yoga Meltdown and so far I really like it. I have Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism but haven't tried that one yet.
I just did the Shred It with weights today with a kettlebell and I really liked it. I liked her in the video and the workout was hard but not unbearable and not boring. I did have to take a short "water break" when I felt like I couldn't finish but I had a little water and caught my breath and got right back into it. I thought it was a good combo of challenging but not undoable.
Also, I think Amazon has great reviews from everything - so you could read the reviews of the particular videos you are interested in. I always read amazon reviews before I buy almost anything.

Has anyone on here tried any of Jillian Michaels' workout DVDs? I'm specifically interested in trying the Lose 20 LBS in 30 days, Killer Buns & Thighs, and Six Pack in Six Weeks. Anyone have any personal testimonials or reviews about her workouts? If so, please share. Thanks!
