I am so grateful to have found my motivation one more time. I had given up for the upteenth time and was considering bypass surgery. But I logged in one more time and asked anyone to pray for me and someone did and I did receive the strength to try one more time. And it has continued now for over 20 days. If it wasn't for the great people on SparkPeople, I just couldn't have made it by myself. Thanks to all the good people here who keep on trying and keep on posting and do care about those of us stuck in the mud.

If you can always smile at life, life will also always smile at you.
-- The Mother at Pondicherry

Good morning,

Half of my gratitudes *disappeared* when I posted so I tried one more time, and just now realizing that I posted this (just before 9am) on the MAY thread. Duh. In any case no less grateful, and here's why~~

~ I have no disability and I feel strong and vibrant

~ I've set intentions for correcting inconsistencies that I want to work with

~ a SFriend and I are plotting cardio for every day of June, and I hope to set up a structure for us to check in with one another to support and encourage

~ though misunderstandings cause pain, I choose not to immerse myself in the drama, rather to use it as a springing board to work on myself

It is when we are confronted with...poignant reminders of mortality that we become most aware of the strangeness and wonder of our brief life on Earth.
-- Kathleen Basford, “A New View of the Green Man Sculptures”

Good afternoon,

"I'm so happy, here's the reason why" is the beginning of a Sunday School song that feels just right today, because I'm "aware of...the wonder"...and I'm here to share some of the reasons why~~

~ it's really a glorious day, not too hot, and I clocked 20 miles on my Specialized

~ a lovely split-tailed swallow flew above and alongside me for several seconds...it was magical

~ the cloud patterns strewn through the blue-blue sky were exquisite and captivating

~ my local bike shop owner gave me a great deal on replacing my front running light -- and it recharges in a USB port

~ a Facebook friend turned me on to a fabulous resource: www.openculture.com , said to be the best cultural and educational media on the web

~ a terrific talk by the incomparable Stephen Fry on OpenCulture, "What I Wish I Knew When I Was 18" www.openculture.com/2012/08/what_i_wish_i_
knew_when_i_was_18_stephen_fry.htmll

~ a delicious nutritious lunch, and boy was I hungry

~ my housemate being helpful (this in itself is nigh onto a miracle) regarding the Toyota Dolphin, which wouldn't start -- while I was on the bike ride he cleaned the battery cables and sprayed something into the air cleaner and voila! it started!

~ WATERMELLEN's blogs, "Leave It!", "Rewarding a Leave It!" and "Identifying the sensual deficit...." -- all profoundly helpful in the continuous challenges of eating smartly on-track www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal.
asp?id=WATERMELLEN

~ and that's just the tip of the iceberg!

Blessed be,

emoticon Gratitude can make a real difference in your ability to feel positive, both emotionally and physically. The idea here is to write at least five things you are grateful or appreciative each day, thus cultivating an attitude of gratitude I will be here with my 5 when it is June for me. I appreciate everyone who joins me in this tradition.

"We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures." –Thornton Wilder

When life gets hectic and you begin to feel overwhelmed, take a moment to focus on the people and things you are grateful for in life. When you are grateful, other things will fall by the wayside.
