This morning, I am grateful for:

-Our three kitties, all of them sleeping in with us today
-The bit of rain it looks like we got overnight and hopes that it helps keep these cooler temps going
-Intentions set for a long bike ride this weekend; I'm considering the 22-mile trail I biked several weeks ago that ran right along a river and was a beautiful ride
-Still having a full weekend of time off, having already been off two days!
-Bringing half of our meal home when eating out last night, so leftovers tonight, supplemented with a wonderful spinach/strawberry/red onion/pecan/feta salad
-Lazy mornings, specifically the one I'm totally enjoying today!

Make it an excellent day in your own favorite way!!!

I know people, I know towns, farms, hills and rivers and rocks, I know how the sun at sunset in autumn falls on the side of a certain plowland in the hills; but what is the sense of giving a boundary to all that, of giving a name and ceasing to love where the name ceases to apply?
-- Ursula K. Le Guin

Good afternoon!

I too am "blessed and grateful" and I copied-and-pasted the first two of friend SAVOY's gratitudes, since they exactly mirror my own~~

~ to be a citizen of the United States of America and to enjoy the all there is to enjoy, and embrace the fact that we are free to express frustration with imperfections and strive to correct

~ feeling positive side effects of better choices (and wonder of wonders, the scale is also slowly reflecting my choices...finally)

~ speaking of "patriotism" this is an exceptionally thoughtful and thought-provoking piece:
www.dailygood.org/story/475/can-patriotism
-be-compassionate-jeremy-adam-smith/

~ almost 12 miles of energetic cycling about-and-about today...now strength training ahead

~ wowie zowie! a frig loaded with organic nectarines, peaches, raspberries, blackberries, red and green grapes

Blessed be

Today, I am grateful....
- that my parents were able to come to this country and become citizens.
- that I am an American.
- for the amazing sunset last night, and the time to just sit there and enjoy it.
- for the even more stunning dry lightning display last night. Spectacular, and hopefully, it didn't cause any fires.
- for my dear Auntie, who is 82 today.

Happy 4th!

This 4th of July I am thankful for:
... citizenship in the USA; hoping that the "united" part will win the day; less me, more we as our nation faces thorny issues
... thank you MaHa for the good wishes and kind words (we got married during the bicentennial celebrations 37 years ago ... what a festive time that was!)
... family and friends who enrich my life
... beautiful trails to hike; enough energy to tackle some of them
... contentment flavored with hope

Peace and joy to all ... Betty

-A solid night of sleep and sleeping in, very rare for me, but I'd been awakened many times the night before
-Plans to go out to a friend's farm later today
-Slow mornings where I don't have to get up and get with it

Make it an excellent day!!

I am grateful this morning for:

- feeling much improved strength and wind when biking yesterday.
- having the "winning hand" in somewhat stressful but exhilarating situation.
- improved health overall including better sleep.
- weighing in this morning to a small but meaningful weight loss.
- the arrival in the mail yesterday of the one and only "living social" deal that I have ever bought (so far anyway).

Thankful, Blessed & Grateful!

- splurging and watching "The Quartet" on pay-per-view, great little film, and a reminder that we all share the same human emotions regardless of which age group we're currently in
- peach cobbler, and remembering my Grandma
- old photos from depression era Oklahoma, of family, copied and mailed to us from my mother's cousin including great shots of mom as a little girl, and her parents as young 30-somethings
- my inner wiser self reminding my more mortal self that I don't need to spend so much time worrying what others what might think, especially others who - how liberating!
- for the man, ordinary citizen not employee, who I saw crawling around in the wooded area along a path to the library this weekend, cleaning up trash that blows in there from garbage cans, and from litterers

Good morning,

Lots to be thankful for today~~

~ beautiful balmy weather...perfect for bike riding!

~ starting the day with nourishing food to fuel me for the ride ahead to the community meditation at the library (about 7 miles from here) and then on to other chores in town

~ the peach I had for breakfast was bliss-in-form
