I stopped smoking 7 years ago after smoking for 17 years so I understand your struggle. I think stopping smoking and trying to lose weight at the same time can be a good idea. It will be tough, but no sense replacing one bad habit with another. Good luck to you!

Hi and congratulations on beginning your Spark journey!
There's so much here to help you along the way and excellent advice to setting and achieving healthy goals. With the thousands and thousands of fellow Sparkers you will always find someone you can connect with. I am always amazed how many lives have been changed for the better through the use of SparkPeople.
If you have not already done so, I suggest that you check out the videos in the "Healthy Lifestyle" section. Scroll down for the site orientation videos.
That should point you in the right direction. I find that if you just start looking around Spark, you will quickly learn about the wonderful tools available for your use. After being a Sparker since 2007, I still find something new and very useful.

Wish you luck on your journey. I wish my daughter would quit smoking. It's so hard on one's body. You have made a wonderful decision to lose weight and quit smoking! WAY TO GO!!!!!!

I have been putting off getting serious about my health for a long time. Now I am to the point that I am now a diabetic. Just on pills for now, but shots could be in my future if I don't get my act together. I have been doing this daily for about a week now. Getting better about tracking everything. Now to get started on doing some exercise. Oh, and I quit smoking 2 weeks ago. Quitting smoking and trying to lose weight at the same time, wish me luck!!!!
