Linda, I can relate a little. I am 62-yo and have neglected myself, feeling the wrath of osteoarthritis in my knees and back. I'm starting slow, exploring SP a lot, and learning how to develop good habits in eating, self-esteem and exercise. I know I have a long way to go, but just after 3 weeks and about 14 lbs. gone, my knees don't hurt AS MUCH...just a little hint of relief going up and down stairs and I say, YEAH! Small steps, modify your exercises to within your abilities...of course, clear things with your doctor. Maybe you can join the YMCA or look up Silver Sneakers availability in your area. Where there is desire, there is a way. You can do this...so can I. I won't give up. Sure, my skin might be loose, but that too can dimish with exercise, maybe not all gone, but it's not bikini wear that we are aiming toward. Our health and well-being is of utmost importance and it's never to late to take action. Love yourself and your family enough to commit to being around for many years to come.

You sound overwhelmed. First things first. Don't look at how much you have to lose, look at how to get 10 or 15 lbs off. One step at a time. Although you may have saggy skin, it doesn't weigh as much or cause the medical problems that the fat does. Set a small goal, when you reach it set another. But don't look at the big picture. You will give up long before you get there. Trust me, I have been there. It isn't to late and you can do it.

I am the personification of "If I knew I would live this long, I would have taken better care of myself". I am so discusted with myself. It seems like, no matter how many diets, programs, etc I have tried I always wind up right back where I was when I started, PLUS 10 lbs. I just turned 57 and it seems like every time I turn around, which is getting harder and harder, by the way, I have a new secialist giving me one more diagnosis.

Just this month I have heard diabetic, another knee surgery to repair the knee replacement I had in 2005, osteoarthritis with a severely deformed ankle that will require surgery......need I say more?

OMG, what have I done to myself. Is it too late? I have been overweight all my life, and when I start loosing weight, my skin sags becausse the elastasity is gone. Which is worse? Until today I couldn't decide. But today when I got the 'deformed ankle' diagnosis, I know I only have one choice. I HATE TO LOOSE THE WEIGHT if I want to continue walking. I am not a stupid person, but I sure have been reckless. I know if I don't do it this time, I won't be able to walk my dogs, or go to the fair, or go anywhere there isn't wheel chair access. This scares me, I just hope it scares me enough. My husband deserves the retirement we are planning, not pushing around his fat wife in a chair.

Will you help me?
