That's a great question, because two months is the time that you are allowed to get your money back if you're not satisfied with programs that help you lose your belly fat, such as MeanAbs.com. Whether you can lose your belly fat in two months depends on your starting point and your dedication to follow a certain program. The important thing is to follow a program with dedication and track your progress. If after two months, you haven't reached your goal -- yet have made progress -- just keep at it.
The thing is, how do you separate spot reduction from reduction?
If I work my thighs hard, I will almost certainly lose thigh fat. This is because I'm working my body, and reducing my fat from my body overall, and my body chooses to release *some* thigh fat as a part of that process. But it does not indicate that specifically working the thigh lost me more thigh fat than if I had not specifically worked the thigh quite as much.
JERF the first link you quoted does state, in your quoted piece: "supporting the notion that spot reduction does not occur as a result of resistance training".
It's one of those things that's very hard to test. How do you know that any person would not have lost quite as much fat from their thighs if they had NOT focused on their thighs as much as they did? You can't normally ask the same person to take the same test, different scenario, again, as now they weigh less, they may have different eating habits, etc. It's just not possible.
What we do find, on balance, is that while all fat reduction helps all over, in most people it is nonsense to do tummy work to reduce the tummy, thigh work to reduce the thighs, arm work to reduce the bat wings, etc. The desired results simply do not happen, not in the real world.

I think diet and exercise is the key. Different people and bodies lose weight in different areas. I have never had much belly fat, but fat in the hips and thighs have been my problem. When I started to lose weight I lost by breasts first and then the rest started to lose weight. My breasts were the last place I want to lose weight, but it happened.
Subcutaneous fat changes resulting from resistance training varied by gender and assessment technique. Skinfold findings indicate that spot reduction occurred in men but not in women. In contrast, MRI found a generalized subcutaneous fat loss independent of gender, supporting the notion that spot reduction does not occur as a result of resistance training. MRI, sensitive to changes along the entire upper arm, detected greater variation in resistance training responses, preventing significant differences between trained and untrained arms. Variation in upper-arm resistance training response was not evident from a single skinfold measurement at the belly of the muscle.
In conclusion, blood flow and lipolysis are generally higher in SCAT adjacent to contracting than adjacent to resting muscle irrespective of exercise intensity. Thus specific exercises can induce "spot lipolysis" in adipose tissue.
I have to agree with Heather. Saying you can't spot reduce is NOT saying you shouldn't strength train.
Everyone should strength train. For life. It's great!
But if you're down to the last few pounds, and you really want to thin up your thighs a little, doing thigh-targeting strength work is not going to help.
It should be part of your overall whole body routine to work your thighs, just don't expect doing more thigh work will lead to faster fat loss on the thighs. That isn't how fat loss works.
You still can't spot reduce fat. You should ST though! Just not for "fat loss". For other reasons.

Except that you can't. That's the point. Yes, you can increase strength and the quality of the muscle, but the fact remains that you can't burn fat from specific areas of the body through certain exercises.
That doesn't mean you shouldn't train the area in question, nor that strength training isn't a good idea (in fact, anyone NOT strength training is missing the most important part of an exercise program and skipping out on tons of benefits like increased fat-burning ability and more.)
The point is that you can do all the ab exercises you like, but until the fat OVER that muscles disappears, you're not going to see the six pack, and the crunches aren't going to burn that fat. The body doesn't work that way.
I recently read a book by Dr. Robert Lustig called Fat Chance and while I don't agree with everything he had to say I do think there is research suggesting that increased fructose causes more visceral(stomach) fat. So that's something to think about.
Also the best exercises I have found for my abs are chin ups and pull ups. The day after a workout with those exercises my abs are crazy strong.

I agree with upping the cardio as the only things I have found to reduce belly fat over time (and it could be six months as it was for me) were running, swimming or rollerblading. High cardio with intervals wherein you bring your heart rate up and down significantly.
Also water water water.....you need to flush out all the crap including the sodium
This is what worked for me but a still have a little more to go but I had alot to start.

It depends on how much weight you have to loose. Belly fat is viseral fat and it usually burns off quicker. If you have a lot of fat stored throughout your body it will be lost proportinatly. I have lost 24 lbs and it's been slow going from my belly. I lost from my upper stomach and then lower. My waist size has only changed a little. Stay away from foods known to give you gas or high fat as they tend to go straight to the waist. I workout everyday doing long cardio and weight training!

Yes, you can. A 'pouch' tummy is different than being overweight. Having a little pouch simply means that your body has a couple pounds of excess fat that you would want to replace with muscle. If I were you i'd up the exercise to a bit more than 30min a few times a week. Try to get in 4hours of cardio exercise weekly. It doesn't have to all be strenous (some should, but not all). For example, half of my cardio is walking. 1 mile of walking is generally about 20 minutes. Walking, running, swimming, and dancing are the best cardio exercises that engage the core area, however you will want to do some strength training a couple times a week (such as crunches, planks, etc).
Eat plenty of protein such as eggs, nuts, peanut-butter, etc. Without protein your body can't build muscle.
If you eat meat regularly try to cut back on it (but make sure you replace it with another protein source).
-I was able to reduce my 'pouch' in only about a month.

I'm going to go with the flow and say that there's no guarantee you'll lose belly fat in the two months (or ever). Plus, it sounds like you're at a healthy weight and shape already.
However, you can shed some water weight by cutting processed foods and sugars. Also, if there's a specific day for which you want your belly to appear as flat as possible, I'd suggest: cutting out salt for three to four days; cutting simple carbs (bread, pasta, white rice, cereal, sugar of any kind) completely; and avoiding any foods that may cause bloating, such as dairy if you react badly to lactose. Drink a lot of water and avoid caffeine. Those are short-term fixes that will make your tummy look flat(ter) on the big day.

Ok thank you everyone for your opinion. I also didn't think that it could happen, I just wanted to see what everyone's opinions were. I now realize that it's better to get ready for losing the wait when you're body is ready instead of jumping into conclusion and trying so hard to lose it in the summer because bikini season.
@Unident, I appreciate your comment. I didn't want to hear about spot-reducing because it irritates me for some reason and that's why I mentioned it.
Honestly, if you cut out some processed foods, your body COULD burn thigns more efficiently and maybe your "pooch" would diminish. I wouldn't bet on it, but it is possible. You can't spot burn, as you seem to know and EVERYONE has said, but there are exercises that seem to make it easier to see more abs. I don't agree with the woman who said that women weren't meant to have abs. I used to have abs. I hope to have some definition there again! Good luck! Working harder and eating better certainly couldn't hurt!

At your weight and height you're ok for any wedding now.
The pouch might be a little annoying and cutting out sweet stuff and training can only be good.
You will see the best results by assessing what your best assets are ( arms, shoulder, legs etc) and buying a dress that emphasizes these. Everyone has "bad points" or dislikes about their body - remaining positive about good points at your BMI is probably the best way forward....
Different people store and lose fat in different places. Nobody can guarantee that your pooch will be gone in 2 months. But in 2 months you can certainly at least reduce it.
This might seem an obvious point, but what I can guarantee is that if you don't even try for fear of it not being gone in 2 months, it will be the same size as it is now at your brothers wedding. As the proverb says, a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

It's unlikely. Weight loss is not a high speed process, and we don't get to choose where it comes off of; even if you eat all the "right" foods, do the "right" exercises, that still doesn't mean that you're going to lose the fat. The less you have to lose, the slower it will come off.
So no, I don't think you can. And you already knew that, I think, or you wouldn't have told us not to tell you as much. ;)

I don't know, but I sure would love to even if I don't lose all that I would like to lose. Losing 1 cm of belly fat once a month is ok withme. Losing 1 cm of belly fat a week would even be better. But I'll take whatever I can get.

I'm not sure what you were hoping to hear then. Why ask if you can target specific fat on your body, and then state that you don't want to hear that you can't do that?
Can you, personally, lose all of the excess fat from your belly pooch in two months? Who knows? Fat loss is highly personal. Whether non-targetted all-over fat reduction techniques would produce this result for you in that timeframe isn't something anybody can state, because we're all individual.
Dropping out the processed foods and sweets would certainly be a good idea and help you along that path though.
Just remember that women's bodies are meant to have a little belly fat. We aren't meant to have visible abs. That's not a normal human female thing. So it might be very difficult to get low enough body fat that your little pooch disappears entirely - the rest of you might end up skeletal in order to achieve that.
So you have to ask - if it comes to that, is it worth it?

Unfortunately, we can't spot reduce areas of our bodies we don't like. Weight loss is a total body process. If you continue to eat right, watch your portions and get some regular exercise that includes some strength training, you will lose off your entire body with time.
Will you lose the pooch ? Honestly, you might not. No matter how hard we try, there are certain areas of women's bodies that refuse to come off. In some women its the saddle bags on the sides of their hips. In others, it's their bellies or hips. There are lots of women on SP who will tell you that when we lost weight, there are areas of our bodies where we still carry some fat. And that doesn't mean we failed at losing weight. That's just the way our bodies are.
So, don't beat yourself up if you don't reach your goal in two months. Remember, this is not a diet. If you want to take the weight off and keep it off, you must continue to eat right, watch your portions and get some regular exercise for your entire life.
And keep in mind that the closer a person is to a healthy weight for their height, the longer it's going to take to lose any perceived excess. someone who is morbidly obese could safely lose 1-2 pounds per week. Someone down to those last 5-10 pounds will find that lose less each week/month. So, don't assume something is wrong if you find there are weeks you don't lose. that really is normal.
Will you ever have a flat stomach ? maybe, maybe not. If you eat as cleanly as possible (that means no slip ups, no alcohol, no processed foods, etc), you might get your weight down to where you want it. the question is whether or not that weight is sustainable. That's a mistake many women make. they choose a goal weight that isn't sustainable. That's why many get frustrated, they take the weight off and then wonder why they can't keep it off.
What to do ? Continue to eat right to the best of your ability. Continue to watch your portions sizes. Try to home cook most of your meals and continue to get some regular exercise.
Try not to worry about how you'll look at the wedding. Instead, try to think about creating a healthier lifestyle for yourself. Because weight loss is nothing more than a byproduct of a healthy lifestyle. if you're eating right and getting some exercise, the weight will come off on its own.

I workout and eat well. I workout 2 to 3 times a week doing 30 minutes or more of HIIT or any aerobic activity. I also do 20 minutes of strength training. My goal is to slim down this summer. I don't have a big belly just a small pooch and I have been trying my hardest to lose the fat and it's going well. I have toned a lot more on other areas of my body than my stomach. Last night, I was thinking about going even further with reducing the fat by reducing processed foods and sweets. This has been a problem for me for a long time but I'm learning to listen to myself and look at what I'm eating. I have a big sweet tooth but I can do research and learn how to substitute sweet cravings. It's the end it's all about how I feel and I feel proud that I choose to eat fruits rather than sweets. I want to continue this way along with eating natural foods and doing my exercise regimines. I am 143, 5'6" and I'm a 21 years old. I want to completely lose in 2 months in time for my brothers wedding I am just not sure if it's worth because my concern is that I might put some of the weight back and that I won't completely be gone and if not then it's ok I just have to continue on with my workout. So, is it possible to lose it in 2 months?
P.S. I know I can't spot reduce so please don't mention it I hear it all the time.
