You should probably add pure strength training but 30 day shred is a good mix of cardio and strength so it's a good place to start

30 day shred is really a cardio workout, as opposed to strength training, so you'll be basically adding more cardio to your off days. You'd be doing cardio six days a week, instead of cardio+ strength, which is more optimal.
Honestly, I would skip the 30DS, and do some true strength training. If you don't want to buy a lot of equipment, you can get a set of resistance bands for less than $20 at walmart, or use body weight. :)
I think 3 days a week would be better than not doing it at all.

When I did it I did work up to 6 days a week..good Lord I needed that rest day from it. But loved the Shred!

I think 30 Day Shred can be a good start, but if your primary goal is to build muscle, I'd recommend workouts that are pure strength training (not circuit training). Each exercise should fatigue your muscles in 1-3 sets, 8-12 repetitions per set. That's the best way to build muscle.

I did it 7 days a week since it's such a short workout, it was easy to fit in. The nice part about it is that there are different people showing you how to do the exercises in different levels, I just didn't care for the shouting, LOL!

I am no expert, but I would say go for it. Three days a week is better than zero.
However, it is only 20 minutes. You are in good shape and you could probably do the shred on the same days you run. I do. You will see faster results if you do it 6 days a week. I am 5'6" 140 lbs, 57 years old.

I have been reading the rave reviews on The 30 Day Shred and as I was looking to add some kind of toning to my exercise routine I gave the free level 1 workout a try. I like it because I needed to motivate myself to do press ups, sit ups and weights etc and the video got me doing them and more.
However I already run x3 times a week for 30 min sessions and I don't want to go totally overboard. So I am thinking of adding 3 days of the 30 day shred on my off days. Then have 1 day rest per week.
Does this sound like a good plan? Any drawbacks?
My goal is to mainly gain muscle and firm up. I am 5'6" and 138lbs, 22.3 BMI.
