I like to eat about 3 hours before a workout, and then have some good protein right after a workout. Of all the workouts I do if I eat too soon before a Yoga class I regret it every time. My 3 hour bike rides or my 2 mile swims aren't so critical, and sometimes the meals actually get me though the workout.
One of our Spark Coach's favorite sayings goes like this:
"We are all an experiment of one" (thanks Coach Nancy)
So in your question, I do believe you just need to experiment with different combinations and times til you find the one that works for you. Personally, I work out before eating breakfast, but many people need to eat something prior to a workout.
This is one of those instances where we can't give you a definitive answer!
That depends on each person and condition. It is always good to have a light something a half our or so before (even just some orange juice) if you are hyperglycemia but if you are not it is really up to you and how you feel.
