Eat healthy, exercise, get enough sleep. That's all you need.

Even if a weight loss supplement would work, you would have to keep doing it to keep seeing the effects. Just like all drugs, you would gradually need more as your body built an immunity (Some women addicted to laxatives have to take an outrageous amount of pills to get the same results that they initially did with just one or two. They literally work up to fifty to one hundred pills daily. Yikes.) Save yourself the potentional health complications and the money. In fact, put that money towards something else that would motivate you.

I've tried many different supplements & things over the years, looking for that "lazy way out" to get back to a healthy weight. Nothing worked.

What I've found that DOES work, and is pretty easy once you get used to it: Focus on Sparkpeople. I find, if I drink all my water every day, try to get in all the fruit & veggie servings most days, stay within my calorie range at least 5 days a week, and at least get 3 workout days in, I will lose. I don't deny myself anything I want to eat. I just plan for it. About once a week I end up at a meal I hadn't planned for, so I make a game of trying to keep it close to my range, and don't worry about it if it isn't.

I can't lose weight eating what others tell me to, or denying myself my favorite foods. It's just not worth it to never have chocolate again. But, the fewer sweets I eat, the fewer sweets I crave.

I prefer not to be on any kind of drug and to me that is what diet supplements are. Like the other repliers have said the only way to truly loose weight is to watch your portions sizes and what you put into you mouth.

Nope. As many people have said, the only thing that will get thinner is your wallet. And they may cause more long term harm.

I took them when I was in my 20s. Never again.

Couch to 5k (often just called C25K) is a running program that takes you from no running experience at all (when I started, running for 60 seconds straight was a huge effort) to being able to run a 5k.

Kola, there's no need for weight loss supplements, which at best are generally useless, and at worst can actually be harmful. I've been on SP for just over a year and have lost 72 lbs (within spitting distance of my goal weight). Aside from being thinner than I ever have been in my adult life, I am--more importantly--much fitter.

I've gotten to where I am by sticking within my SP calorie range and starting to exercise with the Couch to 5k running program. It's not necessarily easy, but it is simple. Eat less and move more, and the weight will come off.

I am 58 years old. I have tried a lot of diet supplements, starting with AIDS (chocolate candy) that came on the market in the 60s. Nothing has worked. Even if they did work they are just a short fix on a long term problem. I prefer the long term fix. I joined SP Aug 22 last year and it has changed me into the healthist person I have ever been in my life. I have lost the necessary weight, learned how to eat healthy, manage my stress, avoid diet sabotage, adhere to a balanced fitness program that includes a healthy amount of aerobic exercise, strength training and flexibility. I plan to continue on this journey so that I can reach my maximum potential. I have friends that are truly supportive and they are closer to me than my friends at home.

SP works if you use it as recommended.

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.

Nope. The only way to *maintain* a healthy weight is to learn how to eat healthy, balanced and not overeat and to learn to love activity and exercise. Diet pills don't fix poor nutrition habits and lack of activity.

Besides, most diet pills are useless band aid solutions, don't even work or are detrimental to your health.

Weight loss is easy if you're committed and willing to learn and work at it and yourself.

"Toning" is marketing muscles to women who are afraid if they pick up a barbell, they'll leave the gym looking like She-Hulk. It doesn't happen, what does happen is you get results. Lifting Barbie weights does nothing but waste time.

I don't, but I know people who have. Some will try any fad in hopes of losing weight. None of the people I know of that use them have lost weight and kept it off. The companies make claims that sound great, but I'm glad I skipped that route and lost weight in a way I can continue with for life.

Goals
March ~ 7 lbs goal met actual (9.4 lbs)
April ~ 5 lbs goal met actual (5.4 lbs)

July ~ 2-3 lbs

There's always some, but you'll find that in general, supplements aren't supported here. If they're over the counter, the odds are they don't work anyway.

Sparkpeople in general promotes a balanced healthy lifestyle approach to weight loss, including diet, exercise, and healthy habits. Not short-cut pills and "jump starts" that don't work. If all it took was a pill, we wouldn't need Sparkpeople. :)
