I have Tracey Mallet's Booty Barre workout and I love it!
I still can't do all the reps though..........sigh!

I have to concur about bare feet in any type of group class. The studio where I take restorative yoga won't let you walk on the floor with shoes but bare feet seem not to bother them which can be harboring all types of fungus and virus' worse than what is on bottom of shoes.
I always wear yoga socks to any class where floor grip is important, I would never go barefoot in an exercise class. I carry my own towel to cover any "communal" pieces of equipment that I use or make sure I wipe down with sanitary wipes. Also use sanitary gel to wipe down my hands after class and make a point to keep my hands away from my face during class.
Carrie - I would be taken aback by dirty bare feet in a Barre workout, too! Yuck!
Thanks for other DVD recommendation. I've found over the last year that the camaraderie in the Bar Method classes I take keeps me working hard and feeling challenged.
And I feel so good when it's over!
I think a Pure Barre studio opened in my town recently and I might go to a class to "spy".

You asked about barre DVDs. I had and still have used several. I really like Pure Barre (and not just because the creator's name is Carrie :-)). I have also tried Physique 57, which I just didn't click with for some reason.
There was another one that I can't think of the name of that I also didn't like. The exercisers had bare feet (totally fine for barre), but their feet were dirty. I just get wierded out by that...no one else probably even noticed!

I've done the "Ballet Beautiful" workout with Mary Helen Bowers. It will make your buns and thighs BURN! I've been lifting weights more often, but perhaps I should add that barre/ballet workout back into my regimen on the weekends. I could use the extra ab and inner/outer thigh work!

not for me

I have studied ballet back in the dark ages. I have always enjoyed it. Unfortunately, there are no good ballet classes anywhere close by. I don't drive so going farther is pretty much out of the question. However, I recently discovered some barre workout videos on YouTube. I downloaded a few and they are now in my arsenal of workouts. I am using an adjustable clothes rack for my barre. Hey, it works. I just started so I can't report on any body changes-YET!

How are you all entering your bar workouts in the Fitness Tracker? I go 3-4 times a week and am not sure how to track this particular workout. Thanks!
It is tough - and in my opinion, something that takes a little exercise "experience". I would not suggest these classes to anyone just beginning to exercise.
But, I've been surprising myself at how much I can do and now just back from the studio, I forgot to mention one of the best effects: I always feel absolutely terrific after class. It must be endorphins, but I haven't notice such a huge mood boost from walking or yoga, though yoga really calms me.
I always get the giggles (inwardly) with that ending sequence, but it surely tones the old "seat"!

The bridge exercise is taken to a new dimension in a barre class. That will strengthen your hips and "seat" as they like to call it. Tough workout-I can't do it more than 2 or 3 times a week.
I've looked for barre workouts in my area but haven't found any yet. I have a lot of pain in my hips and thought that barre workouts would help stretcha nd strenghten them. I'm glad to hear positive comments and will keep looking. I think results in 5 weeks is good.

I've been doing barre workouts at a local place for the past 5 weeks and I am finally noticing some changes. The workouts are very challenging, mostly for the core and thighs. I've been doing 2 workouts a week and I am pleasantly surprised to notice that I've lost inches all around, especially around the hips while my back and neck pain is gone. Has anyone else tried these barre boot-camp exercises and how long did it take you to see nice results? What were your results?
