If it helps, the NLEA serving size (the average amount that, in government studies, people thought was 'right' for a serving) is 9.9 ounces, which is about the amount that fills a dessert plate. That's about 85 calories.
And I can't see any way that a serving or two of watermelon could harm your health. Watermelon has respectable amounts of vitamins A and C, and also some antioxidants like lycopene and lutein that you don't find in many other fruits. No, it's not the absolute healthiest fruit in the world, but it's still good for you. And since most people consider it a great treat, it may help keep you from eating things that aren't healthy. Try to remember where you heard that it was unhealthy, and don't take that source very seriously in the future.
It sure makes you pee lots. I say go for it as long as your counting the calories (or points - WW).

Am I correct in saying that even though watermelon has a lot of sugar that it is a better, natural sugar? I am also someone who loves to eat a whole watermelon! The way I see it, I eat as many fruits and veges as possible and I count the calories for them but I don't put a lot of bearing on them having sugar or carbs, etc. I love bananas too and I hear a lot of people say that they aren't very good for you because of the fat & carbs or something. I eat as much as I can!
I eat a lot of watermelon too! I hope it isn't bad for you to eat too much! lol

Fruit is healthy for the most part, and I don't think watermelon is THAT sinful. OK, it does have a fair amount of sugar, but I don't see that it will do any harm if eaten as your fruit allowance. All fruit has sugar, so where do you win? Fruit is a healthy choice and watermelon is good, especially in the summer, as it is refreshing and cooling.
We love watermelon in the summer. I heard somewhere that too much watermelon is bad for your health. I was wondering if this was true. If it is true what do they consider too much watermelon to eat? What portion size of watermelon is good to eat?
