The people here are really friendly and are always willing to lend that helping hand when the going gets tough, they are also a very inspiring and motivating bunch. You better beware because that motivation and inspiration is quite contagious.

Hello ....I just joined sparkpeople today and I am happy I did. I still have a lot to learn on this site but it is a fun site. I am 32 years old and married to a wonderful man for 12 years in Nov. 2011. My goal to lose this weight is to get pregnant. We have been trying for years. Back in Dec. 2010 i got pregnant. It was after losing some weight and we were so happy. but then on Feb. 14th i lost the baby. So I went to eating and being sad. I am done being sad and living in the past. On Sept. 30, 2011 i woke up and weighted myself. That day I started to eat less and better food. I also started to do more moving around. Today Oct. 4th I weighted myself and my weight is 217. I feel happy and better about myself.
That is my story so far... Thanks for reading my Introduction.. I cant wait to make some good weight loss friends......

Welcome to Spark People. There is so much information available to you here. There are teams that you can join that offer support, inspiration and motivation with members of pretty much any interest that you may seek. The food & fitness trackers are invaluable sources at your disposal. There are articles that cover pretty much any topic that you can imagine. Spark people members share blogs that offer you a glimpse at their experience, strength and hope and gives you a look at their perspective. There are health articles and a vast health encyclopedia, if you will, to help you with all manner of physical health issues. There are even games to help you get involved and meet new friends. This is a wonderful positive community of people, like yourself, who want to work their "weigh down" the scale on the path to better health and happiness. Jump in and get involved. I find that the more active I am, the more I get out of it for myself. It's sort of like "paying it forward" and reaping benefits from the backwash! I am so happy that you are here. Welcome to the site! What an amazing introduction to yourself- you have a lot to be proud of :) And you certainly deserve to be happy! Hopefully as you progress in your journey you'll start to see yourself differently. One suggestion I have is to set up some sparkstreaks to get you going- it's really satisfying to set a small goal and meet it (eg- drink 8 glasses of water every day, workout 3x a week, etc). Once you realize you can attain smaller goals, you can start setting more challenging goals for yourself, and you'll feel great about yourself!
I think you'll really enjoy this site- I really recommend checking out sparkteams- you'll definitely be able to find some that interest you and you can check them out and see which ones you like best. I think they're a really great way to make friends here and get motivation/support/new ideas/etc! My other favorite feature is the recipe calculator on sparkrecipes- it's really eye-opening and helps you see where you can make changes in your own recipes, plus there are tons of great recipes posted by others!

Hello. I am 23 years old and currently living in SC, but I was born and raised in WA! I made the big move for my boyfriend of 6 years last year; he is getting his masters and I had finished college. I am an early childhood educator, or teacher; I teach children ages birth through pre-k . I love to laugh and make others laugh. I enjoy watching movies. I like to go for walks with no destination in mind. I love my friends and family, and I would do anything for them. I would die with out my smart phone! My weakness is pizza and Ice cream, and my new food love is hummus. Now that you have that view of me, lets do a little life story that isn't so much fun fact and happy smiles.
I have been over weight as long as I can remember; I've always been the chubby girl. I'm tired of hearing "You'd be hot if you were thin." not exactly in those words but, you know how they sound "Yeah, she is really cute but...." or "I would date her but...." Yeah people for some reason can never finish that sentence, but we know what they mean.
In 6th grade I started to only eat dinner. By the time I was in 8th grade I was down to a size 13, but I was still unhappy and still considered the chubby girl. Well it has been 8 years since then and I am now wearing a size 18 and I'm 240 lbs. I used to tell myself, once I saw that I was gaining weight "Its okay, just don't hit the 200's. Be happy with your curves!" then once I got into the 200's it was "It's okay, if people don't like you because of the way you look then they aren't worth it." I have been up and down and up and down for YEARS now, at one point I had gotten down to 200 lbs but hat was over a year ago I have since then gained the 40lbs back.
I am truly unhappy. I hate looking in the mirror because I can't find anything I like. I have cut my hair, I wear make up, and buy new cloths, but I still cry when I look in that mirror. Nothing has made me happy. Don't get my wrong, I have a great family and friends and a loving boyfriend; they are all very supportive of me. I am only 23 and I have a degree, full time job with benefits. But I am still unhappy. If you are still reading this you would guess that I am a downer, but you would never know that if you talked to me. I love to laugh and make others laugh. Everything I am telling you is what happens when I'm by myself. I am happy on the outside and enjoying life, but on the inside I am sobbing.
Okay so now you all know the deep dark sad me, but I do love to laugh and make people laugh. Like I said, its when I'm all alone that these feelings and tears come. BUT I am here to change all that!!!!! I WANT TO BE HAPPY!!!! and this time I will be. Spark people will keep me on track and hopefully I can get some friends here that are on the same boat as I am. I look forward to this journey with all of you =D
