If you are sick, I would be inclined to not worry toooo much about losing weight. Also, where it comes to exercise, if you are affected below the neck, then I would think twice about anything that might get you huffing and puffing. Wait until you are feeling better.

Hope you are feeling better soon.
Kris

Thank you!! I feel 10X better! I might have eaten that much extra haha (not really) but I forgot about the water weight gain somehow! My brain is so tired from being sick and trying to figure out precalculus! haha anyway I think tea is in order, and an applesauce oatmeal muffin (repipe from here!) thanks again!

BELLY327,

Unless you ate 17,500+ calories worth of extra food this week, you did not and will not gain five pounds. In order to truly gain one pound of fat, a person needs to eat an extra 3,500 calories on top of their normal intake. So, if you didn't eat the equivalent of an entire Cheesecake Factory Cheesecake this week, you did NOT gain fat. What you're experiencing is nothing more than a temporary water weight gain.

Ever notice your weight tends to go up during TOM ? Most women tend to gain weight during their menstrual cycle. Is that a fat gain ? Nope. it's nothing more than a temporary water weight gain that passes in a few days. During my cycle, I can gain as much as 5-7 pounds ! I don't let it freak me out because I know it's water retention, nothing more.

If you're feeling hungry, try to eat foods that are high in fiber. Fiber helps keep us full for longer. So, if you're hungry, you might have an apple with a small dab of peanut butter. You could even have a banana with peanut or almond butter. Fiber and a bit of protein can help us feel more full.

Try having a BIG glass of water. Some times hunger isn't really hunger, but thirst.

And well, you have to ask yourself are you hungry because you haven't eaten or you're hungry because you're bored or pms-ing ? Either way, you need to find something to do so that you're not thinking about food. Keep yourself busy. What is the old cliche ? Idle fingers are the devil's workshop ? okay, I'm paraphrasing, but you see the point.

Try to keep your mind active so that you're not thinking about food. But if you are hungry, have a couple of pieces of fruit or maybe some nuts.

I do like a nice cup of tea. I find it relaxing and filling.

I'm in need of a food intervention! every time I have pms.. I just feel so out of control with food. How do I stop eating? It's 10:55am and I've already had a slice of left over cheese pizza.. seriously? I just lost 7 pounds, and honestly over the course of this week, I know I've gained it all back but am afraid to even step on the scale. I started school last week and did pretty well as far as the gym went. I even tracked all my food. This week my fit bit is off of my bra, I haven't gone to the gym, my house is a mess, I'm sick with a cold and sore throat and I don't have any motivation to get off this couch and do something about any of it. Words of encouragement please!
