@ DRAGONCHILDE I could not have said it better. I prefer ashtanga vinyasas as cardio workout. I've seen too many young avid runners in my practice disabled with their femoral heads grinding on their tibia having worn out their menisci prematurely. One of my friends was 26 when it happened to her. I've busted my meniscus doing ballet. NO fun.
I've found that insanity is awesome for making your current weight look better on you (toning) but to lose the weight you have, you definitely need to eat properly for your body.
My general weight loss rules (opinions) are:
Nutrition = Gain/Lose weight Exercise = Make the weight you have look better
Some people also use the 80/20 or 80/10/10 rule
The 80/20 is... 80% nutrition 20% exercise
The 80/10/10 is... 80% nutrition 10% exercise 10% genetics
Whichever way you look at it... INSANITY is an intense workout and without the proper nutrition you just might not make it through a week's worth of videos!!

While exercise is critical for healthy bodies and fitness, it's not the big "weight loss" miracle some people think it is.
It DOES help, but to truly lose weight, it's your diet that's critical. Exercise without proper nutrition is ineffective: You can't out-exercise a bad diet. You can do all the awesome workout DVDs you want, but if you don't pay attention to what you're eating, you may be sabotaging yourself without realizing it. Even something like eating too little while working out too much can stall efforts and eliminate forward progress.
Are you using the Sparkpeople nutrition calculator? I've found it to be absolutely critical for my weight loss efforts.

I just ordered INSANITY yesterday, should be here sometime next week. All these posts about people not losing weight is discouraging. Hmm..But if I lost inches, that would be awesome too. I wonder if I incorporate INSANITY with another 30 minute daily routine I would get results. I have decided to only have a sugary treat once a week instead of daily sometimes several tomes in one day.. Maybe with cutting out sugar, drinking more water, doing INSANITY and possibly another workout, I will get the results I want! 15 lbs is what I want to lose. KP
