The standard plan is a carbohydrate controlled eating plan, with a certain amount of carbs for each meal and snack (this would also them take into account the sugar you are eating).
Call the doctor's office or your local hospital to see what types of diabetes/pre-diabetes classes are available in your area. We also have a diabetes resource center at Sparkpeople too. This will have many resouces, meal plans, etc.

Thank you for the tips! No, I wasn't referred to a dietician nor was given a meal plan. But I will keep that in mind next time I see him.

Did your doctor give you a meal plan, or refer you to a dietician? If you are prediabetic, a dietician would probably be the best route to go.

I didn't check to see if your tracker is public or not, but some suggestions for reducing sugar in the diet would be- eliminate sodas and sweetened drinks. Avoid processed foods and white breads, sticking with whole grains. Check labels for added sugar (I think there is a spark article about that somewhere).

Best of luck.

About a year ago I was diagnosed with pre diabetes. Since finding out I have been exercising almost daily and have been watching closley to what I am eating. Latley, I have noticed that I'm still taking in alot of sugar with my diet. Is there anyone out there who could give me a few tips on what I can do to make this diet more effective?
