I just found this challenge and would love to join it! I would love to be OVERWEIGHT!! Never thought I would be saying that... emoticon . I am obese now and according to Sparks I can lose 55 lbs. by Jan. 26, 2010. I started at 205 lbs. and am down to 197 lbs. in a month. Slowly but surely I will do this.

WE CAN DO THIS!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi, I too would like to become 'overweight'. How do I determine my BMI?

CHEERFULLADY, if it is true that misery loves company, then you should love me. I really messed up today too. My beloved son came from out of state to visit and dh and I took him and his little family out for lunch. I was very nervous about it. And true to form, i really overdid it. I'm trying to not feel such disgust for myself, but it is not working.

I am finally almost overweight, but I will join in this thread as well so we can emoticon together....

One more week and I should stop being obese...that is my plan!

Thanks THIN for the e-mail...I will have a good weekend, I am confessing that

I am not at home I will be and have been traveling for the past two weeks but I am still making healthy choices

logging my food best I can (sometimes you do not know what is in some of the foods someone else cooks for you)

when I log daily I add an extra table spoon of olive oil to my food log to account for any hidden fat

I am being patient with myself since I am traveling I can not always have a dish the way I would prepare it a home so If I do not stay with in my range daily I do not give myself a hard time

I usually give myself a little room to breath on the road

my work outs have been pretty good, getting my cardio and some weight training in

Very creative way to phrase that :) Would love to join in the journey to being overweight. :) My BMI is in the obese catergory 51.8 and I would love to be at least overweight so to speak by 2010.

Hey Elle. I took the Beginner's/Gentle Yoga class, because I never do yoga either. Let me tell you, I am SORE from it!! It may not seem like a tough workout, but I sure do feel it! I think it's great because it helps me use muscles I don't usually workout! I plan on taking it every week now that I know how much I need it!

100 it sounds like your workout was FAB, I was sweating just from reading your post (lol) I want to try Yoga, I have only done it once in a class and once on a video. I heard that it is on the 30 day shred that I keep hearing so much about. I am in need of a new work out tape so I might buy it and try it on there.

Well 100 I am traveling, so I am staying with others and trying to figure out what are in the meals they are cooking for me every night But I am going to Bally's fitness center so that is good...still getting in my work.

Welcome SAMMIE200718

I am 215 now (according to the scale), with greater than 26% body fat (at least that is what the mirror told me this morning)

upper limit of overweight for me would be 195 lbs
when I get there I will reward myself (some reward right) emoticon with body fat percentage calibration

If you are obese it is a good goal to aim for overweight for starters

then once you reach the upper limit of overweight you can decide how much more you want to lose

How to decide:
you can work with your doctor, see what you blood pressure is, she how well you are during your next physical exam
you look at your body fat percentage should be around 26%(maximum) for females

when one is obese it makes no sense to measure body fat until you lose a considerable amount of weight all measuring body fat will tell you when you are obese is that you have high body fat and you don't need a caliber to tell you you have high body fat you can look in the mirror.

so get to overweight from obesity and then go from there

Are you sure you're looking at the right chart?

I'm also 5'5". My healthy range is from like 112 to 150. Maybe you are looking at a different chart.

yeah. mine for me to be "healthy" I would have to be 130lbs. I think that is way too skinny for a 5'5 person. Besides, I don't want to be a stick lol I am all for us women have the booty and the boobies lolz

VRUNRUN Posts: 3,204

Hey Sammie, I understand where you are coming from, but my healthy range goes up to 150lbs. I don't think I will be too skinny at 150lbs. I know the BMI chart doesn't take into account muscle mass, but I think it's a good goal to shoot for nonetheless.

Just so everyone knows, don't go by the BMI chart. It's something somw guy made up in the 18th century, and if we all went by it, we'd all be too skinny. I don't even know why doctors still use it, mine doesn't anymore because of how wrong it is. But I am in to get some body fat down!!

Hey everyone! I had a great day yesterday! Stayed in my calories, drank lots of water, did an hour long beginner's yoga class and then ran on the treadmill for 30 minutes after that.

Today is going to be great too! I got in a 45 minute swim this morning and already had a healthy breakfast. Now I have to decide what's for lunch.

How is everyone else doing???

THIN - I did not see consistent results until I started logging everything I put in my mouth

I learned from studying human physiology that with weight loss about 75% of it is what we eat

25% is activity

so FOOD FOOD FOOD is what we have to master right out the gate

Welcome Bonnie - I can walk you through finding out your BMI if you want to

But Welcome to the challenge, I will post how this challenge works

THIN - thin I eat and then log?? I only started logging consistently last week. Even if you eat then log that is still better than not logging at all.

Once you eat look how many calories was in that meal look at FCP (fat carbs protein) Think about how much of something or little of something was on your plate it will give you an idea with portions just in case you can not measure

I try to have everything logged prior to Dinner, that is the one meal I plan based on the calories I consumed for the day

so throughout the day If I go buck wild then I know my dinner will be a cup of tea and I do not want that so I am aware, even if I can not log, of how much and what I am eating

Is there anyone else who is reaching for a reduction of their BMI from Obese to Overweight!!!

This, of course, is one of my short term weight loss goals

Who wants to take this journey with me and chart our progress!!!???
