I do two dishes with brown rice for my lunches. One is brown rice and lentils. I add a bag of lentils a cup of brown rice to five cups of water, add diced carrots, onions, celery; four bay leaves, some salt and pepper. when it is all cooked take out bay leaves and add a can of diced tomatoes. For the other recipe I cook one cup of brown rice in two cups of water. When done I add 2 cans of rinsed and drained black beans, one bag of frozen corn, one can of diced tomatoes, and a jar of salsa. These two recipes are great for lunches or any side dish.

I'll sometimes cook my rice with a bullion cube thrown in..give it tons of extra flavor. Although it does add sodium, if that's something you're concerned about.
Just read a thread where someone mentioned mixing brown rice with salsa and a little cheese. I thought it sounded awesome and am definitely trying it soon!
Another good one to try is to add a little sesame oil, chopped scallions, salt, garlic powder and sesame seeds.
Or add a little milk, extra sharp cheddar and cooked broccoli to the cooked rice.
Rice is great because it goes well with so many different flavors and ingredients. Would love to hear what else you come up with once you start experimenting!

i love my rice cooker and all the crazy different things you can make in it...even chicken and mac and cheese! crazy...but not all healthy obviously...lol. i would check out pinterest and just google'ing rice cooker recipes. food.com has a bunch also. enjoy you rice cooker!

I bought a rice cooker and brown rice. Does anyone know of some good recipes for brown rice? I want to use it tonight. I found one on the site, Better than Takeout Chicken Fried Rice, I am going to cook it tonight. Any suggestions will be appreciated. I love rice dishes! Bonnie
