She was getting bored w oatmeal and undertook a challenge to come up with 365 recipes so she could eat oatmeal everyday and never have the same bowl twice.
I'd go w almond butter and dark chocolate shavings - if I was going to eat oatmeal!
I love chopped pecans in oatmeal! Also, I like to add a pat of butter and some jelly. Then it's like toast is a bowl! Sometimes, I'll use peanut butter instead of regular butter. Peanut butter and jelly sandwich in a bowl. lol
Have you tried steel cut oats? It has a nuttier flavor and much heartier texture than regular oatmeal. If I add anything, I'll add honey or ground flax seeds.

I have also found that cooking the oatmeal with milk (either dairy milk or non-dairy subs) makes it much better and creamier, plus adds protein.
For sweetener I use liquid stevia, so that just a few drops is good for a whole serving without making it taste funny. I also like to add chopped pecans and craisens to mine as well. Dried fruit goes well in oatmeal, especially if you cook it with the oats.
Happy Oating!

I add chopped apricots and use raw sugar to add flavor. A small amount of raw sugar seems to add big flavor. I sometimes add in chopped nuts and my daughter likes flaked coconut in hers.

How in the world do you make oatmeal good!? I love oatmeal but like the packages of fruit flavored and what not... but I bought a big ol' thing of just old fashioned whole oats, it was cheaper and I am assuming better then the little flavored packets...
This morning I added banana in it and I just can't do banana. I am super sensitive / allergic to it plan, so I thought in oatmeal it would be okay... but it isn't, it made me so sick. I also added a couple packets of sugar (splenda like)...
But it was just, uuugggh, BLAH!
so what do you all do/use/add?
