Many people on SparkPeople have suggested that the easiest exercise is to just put one foot in front of the other and walk out your door and just keep walking. So, I think this is also a good cure for those days that you just feel like sitting around and being lazy. Just get up and take a 10-30 walk and re-energize yourself then if you feel like being a little lazy and sitting down with a cold iced tea or glass of water you will feel good about spending a little bit of time relaxing. Everyone deserves a lazy day or sometime to relax especially after you have already done the things that need to be done.

You don't need to work out in order to lose weight. I never work out and I have lost 15 pounds in the 4 weeks that I have been on my diet. I'd say just do what I did. Focus on your diet until you lose a good amount of weight and then add in exercise. I am going to incorporate some light cardio and some weight training into my weight loss program. I don't want a weak looking body when I am done losing the weight. I say I'm only adding light cardio simply because I'm aware of something most people don't know. Too much cardio can slow or stop your progress.

I have that list of reasons to work out in an inconspicuous list at work, but I don't have anywhere to put it at home. My bathroom, through my bedroom, is the guest one - so much for private reminders.

But I did sit around way too much this weekend. So today I am walking to the gym and working out. Definitely. Since I said it on here :P

That became such a problem for me that I had to make a detailed "to do" list of basic self-care and housework chores and literally force myself to check things off. I looked at the list many times every day, even carried it to work with me. It took a few weeks while I gradually built up motivation, (I wanted to get all the boxes checked!) but when the discipline returned it was worth the effort.

We all go through phases in life, some of them active and others not. Motivation will return to you eventually. Believe it!

Paying yourself for your efforts to stick to your goal is a good idea. First, on your lazy days, you do what you made a commitment to do (exercise, eating right, and chores). This way you will feel less guilty when you are trying to lounge around.

It is so easy to wake up and want to just have a relaxing, lazy day but if there are things that need to be done or should be done then you keep thinking about all the things that need doing and not really enjoying your lazy day. So, make a deal with yourself--1) Keep your commitment to yourself first (exercise and eat right), 2) Do at least one chore that you have been putting off, and 3) Okay--now you deserve to sit and be lazy--read a book, watch a movie or just sit and daydream for a little bit while enjoying a cool cup of unsweetened ice tea.

Now, I just need to take my own advise this morning and get myself moving in the right direction. Just do it first then relax and enjoy the moment!

It's best just to get up and get going! :)

One thing I always remember is NO PAIN, NO GAIN!

Sometimes I feel like that - I think we all do. I mke it a point to just get up and get started. Sometimes I make my goal other times I do not. At least I have done something and sometimes on lazy days I simply decide to relax and take it easier. I still walk but maybe not quite as far or as fast.

Actually I do that once a week to give my body a chance to recover. So I guess it depends what the sore is like. I say listen to your body. But never quit. I suggest a buddy who will hold you accountable. That is why I will be at a 5:30 am spinning class. emoticon

I could be queen of "I wanna sit and be lazy". I always use the excuse of I'm exhausted from work and I need a few minutes to unwind. Problem is those few minutes turn into all evening on the couch or my recliner watching tv. I'm going to try again tomorrow to do my walk, but instead of trying to do 2 miles, I'm starting off by walking 30 minutes..15 minutes and then turn around and do the other 15 minutes. I'm hoping by doing this, I'll stay motivated and not give into the lazies...

I've struggled with this as long as I can remember. As a child I had my mother to tell me to go outside or get off my butt. Now as an adult, I have to tell myself that. I came to this realization about a week ago. And I have been doing pretty good with it. But today the struggle came back. This was also my first day off alone since this realization. How do you motivate yourself when no one is around to hold you accountable and encourage you?

Sitting and being lazy can have negative consequences if you give in to this negative concept too often. The thing is we don't really know what is too often. It could just become better to us than achieving the goals we sat down for ourselves.

Yep, everyone of us ( well nearly... ) say this.... it depends how often you say that. Because I used to do this when I got laid off from my job, the days went one after another then weeks or months.

Even if you do something for 10-15 minutes, usually your energy is better.

But obviously, it alright for sometimes.

But we could put a book together in an hour, with all the reasons, genuine or otherwise.

One I have been saying lately, is that it's money in the bank for my older years ( the quality/ energy/ health ).

I especially don't want to work out when There is some crisis, the weather is yeck, being bored, but I'm improving since Spark !

Some days it is nice to just sit and be lazy as long as it does not become a habit am saying that one day will not wreck you exercise record one day at a time

Neither do I. I don't want to do my lunch walk. But why not? It's much lower humidity today. Good our secretary is back. Okay, change, Iheartradio, and walk!

Once I get off my butt and start, the rest is easy.

DONE!! 33 minutes and 2 miles later. Hot, sweaty, and tired, but satisfied.

I am totally with you on wanting to sit and be lazy! Just remember that's not what you need to do! And like Jillian says in the 30DS dvd, IT'S ONLY 20 MINUTES!!!!
That being said...find something that motivates you. I used a dry erase marker on the big ugly builder grade mirror in my bathroom and wrote a motivational phrase and then yesterday I starting keep up with how many pounds I lost on there too. (Don't worry, the ugly mirror is huge and UGLY and there is still plenty of room to see yourself) It kind of works like your ticker on here, except it's there every time you pass the mirror.
AND just think about how proud of yourself you are when you finish the dvd. It feels so good. Plus doing a workout today will help relieve yesterday's soreness, and then tomorrow's workout will relieve today's...and so on...it's repetitive cycle meant to change your lifestyle and help YOU get where YOU want to be...just sayin'! :)

I recently got a HRM watch w/ chest strap which calculates calories burned. For me, that's a huge motivation bonus. Also, I have a text workout buddy - each day, we text our activity, duration and calories burned.

The hardest part is getting up off your butt and getting started - remember the endorphins, remember how great they feel when you are working out and how good you feel about yourself afterwards. The pain fades if you continue but sits with you when you sit around.

Yeah I know, there are lots of days when I really don't have the energy or the inspiration and have to really force myself to go and work out but I always feel so much better afterwards and am proud of having succeeded in making myself do it

When you start something new, you will feel a little sore and may want to give up. It gets easier with continued use.

I am not sure about the specific program you are doing, but I know most strength training recommends resting the muscle group for a day or two after an intense work out. Most programs alternate muscle groups so you give those muscles a rest while working the next set. So hopefully even if you are sore you will be working different muscles so it may not be as horrible as it feels it will be :)

Either way, you can do it! At most you only have 29 days left!

Nike had it right. JUST DO IT! You'll be pissed at yourself at the end of the night when u think back on ur day. Saying, "damn, I coulda been done with today." Secondly, do it or don't I dont want to sound rude or brash, but only YOU control you happiness... and the size of your jeans. If you like being big, then have a seat, kick your feet up and relax. NO PAIN NO GAIN!!! Keep GOING!!! YOU"LL have that much more to celebrate when you make your goals :D Im doing p90x day 21 today. Mt entire body hurts. But thats how u know its working.

Just do it! The sooner you git-r-done, the sooner you can do whatever it is you'd rather be doing.

You will feel GREAT after you work out because you will have accomplished something which is difficult for you. It's good to challenge yourself every day.
