Hi

I must be using the wrong thinking or something.vim 52. I'm also very unhealthy, with heart, lung, neuromuscular and other issues. My weight definitely suffered, and I found myself at over 200.

As I'm very limited physically in what I can do, I picked walking as my thing. I started small. First, just a quarter mile, and that was with an 02 tank and a walker, mind you. Now, I can easily do a mile or more. Low and behold, I found it helped my pain levels drastically.

I detest water, but I love crystal light, so I drink it instead. I'm not trying to starve myself to lose, I'm just counting every darn calorie that goes in my mouth, and still managed to have my snack of cherry ice cream last night without going over my 1200.

It seems like the key, at least for me was to make sure I wasn't feeling deprived of things I enjoyed. I'm eating baked potatoes, salads, meat, snacks...and am finding most days, I'm struggling to eat enough.

I read some of these panics and wonder if I'm doing it all wrong, because I'd still do the Mickey D's, I'd just budget it in like I did subway last week.

You lost 80 pounds, I think that's awesome! Maybe go back to counting calories again? If that worked for you? I eat eggo waffles most mornings. Instant oatmeal, or even sausage corn dogs with pancake. All at around 200 CALS for breakfast.

A 30 minute walk burns about 100 CALS. You just have to make the choice again. Only thing I've done differently from all the diets I've done over the years is this: I'm not dieting. I've just decided on a new way of eating, and I'm still eating every darn food I enjoy, in moderation. I don't have the willpower to diet. Not for the long haul. Never have.

You can't beat yourself up because you've regained some of the weight. That is something that has happened to each and every member of Spark People. You can't change the past, but you CAN influence and change the future. Don't look at good health or weight loss with an all or nothing mentality. If the only healthy thing you were to do for yourself today was to drink 8 glasses of water, that's still a step in the right direction.

Start with some simple changes first. Don't try to do everything at once or you will end up frustrated. Set some simple goals. Example, if you're not used to eating 6-9 servings of fresh fruit and veggies, set a goal to eat 2-3 servings each day for one week. If you're not used to drinking 8 glasses of water, set a goal to drink 2-4 glasses each day for one week. If you're not used to regular exercise, set a goal to take a 30 minute walk each day for one week. Once you've achieved these goals, then you set new ones.

One small change is all it takes to change your life ! Because one small change will lead to another and another and another. before you know it, all those small changes add up into one huge accomplishment.

Start slowly. Take baby steps literally and figuratively.

Thank you!!! Choices... that is what it's about. I can choose what I eat. I can choose to exercise or not. I can choose to be healthy and happy. I can choose to leave my cash and debit card at home! :)

Hi Sarah,

emoticon but it's going to take time, patience and perseverance. If you notice I did not mention anything about being perfect. Perfection plays no role in healthy living. There are going to be times when a 10 minute walk is all we can do or an unexpected event happens which causes a not so great choice in foods, but those are not what define us.

What does is knowing that every moment we have the choice to make a healthy choice. We don't have to spend hours in the gym to get healthy. While fast food is not always the best choice, if you are looking for convenience, there are healthy option, even at Mickey Ds. You can opt for oatmeal in the morning with a glass of juice. You have the convenience without the guilt.

And look to others for support...everything is so much easier when we have others to walk this journey with us.

Hi Sarah.

Don't beat up yourself about this! Go with the flow!!! You are craving those junky foods and I guess you are feeling a bit of anxiety so eat what your heart desires and soon, very soon, you will find your way back to losing the weight once again! YOu were able to lose so many pounds once and you do have the drive and determination needed to run this hard road!! Losing weight and keeping it off is incredibly HARD and it takes so much planning, discipline and dedication that every so often we all feel burned out!

I applaud you for your courage to admit what's going on with you and I'm confident you will soon find your way back!

I feel like a huge loser... huge in more than 1 way. I lost over 80 pounds thanks to Spark people. This was years ago. I have gained most of it back. I joined a gym earlier this year. Lost weight, felt great. Zumba and cardio classes, weights, you name it, I did it. Then, I missed my kids and boyfriend because I was there all the time. I have workout DVDs, kettle bells, room to work out, but I just don't do it. I don't eat well again. I was eating vegetables and fruits, no junk and crap. now, I feel almost obsessed with grabbing a "quick burger" at lunch or finding the worst things I can have at home. We are busy at home. Though I don't keep much " junk" ie: candy, chips and such, there are nuggets or taquitos... quick stuff for the kids after school and football. I would rather just not cook the right things, just cook the not so good things... even though I have good stuff at home. I wake up in the morning and my first thoughts are: were there leftovers? are there any nuggets to heat up for breakfast? or the worst... I can just run to McDonalds for breakfast. I seem obsessed about eating lately. Whats weird, I feel don't feel all that guilty for eating fast food, but I feel gross when I actually do eat a healthy meal. I don't know what to do!!!!!! I am gaining weight and I know my health is suffering.... someone help me!!
