I agree with Teacher, about grilling whenever you can. It is usually too late when we get home to fire up the grill, but on weekends, such as last night, while my husband had steak on the grill, we will also throw on 2 chicken breasts, to have on top of salad another night. Pulled pork in the crockpot is a great option, too, and simple! I plan ahead for the week, choosing the meat and vegetables for each night. I tend to choose chicken and fish, but I do eat pork and beef occasionally. Try one new recipe a week, and make your favorite dinners healthier. Make your own pizza at home, switch to brown rice.

We grill most nights during nice weather. I buy meat and veggies that are on sale that week and that is what I use to plan meals. Tonight we are having marinated flank steak and broccoli.
Let's see, I ended up with country style ribs and a roast for the meat. I can't remember what else I bought. I should probably just start typing the meal plan into my phone after I wander through the vegetable and meat department, since I can do it in my head for the most part.
I guess part of my problem is that I'm better with "winter" foods. It doesn't matter when I'm cooking for one because I rarely leave the house and setting the thermostat to 77 is a necessity since we don't have trees, but hubby has to drive home in the heat, and I feel bad for serving him a hearty stew after that.
Maybe I need more "summer" ideas? Tacos, curry, and stir-fry are about the best I can do.
When I first joined Sparkpeople I had twenty something pounds to lose. I did that, but I'm back for a tuneup. I found that meal planning was key to my success. Going for the quick and easy meal can be treacherous to the calorie count for the day. This may sound nuts, but I now plan dinner for up to a month in advance. Sure, it is in pencil and depending on social plans and things that come up, planned meals can change, but it takes so much stress out of my life. I always have a couple of back up options in the freezer and there might be a couple of "potluck' days on that monthly plan, but the grocery list is clear and I don't have to figure it out after working all day.
I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to cook next week before I go to the grocery store, but I'm coming up blank. I've got a recipe collection on the web, but most of it is weird, fussy, dessert, or seasonally inappropriate. (We've been eating a lot of sausages and onions lately.)
