I drink a lot of water, especially when I'm active. Even at 110 lbs I usually drank at least 12 cups per day.
8 "extra" ounces of water definitely will not hurt you, even if you're small. It takes a pretty huge amount of water to cause any sort of ill effects so unless you're having electrolyte imbalances by chugging the stuff by the gallon, you'll be fine.
Drinking water is also not what causes you to retain water (it actually helps), and even if it did, a little bit of water retention is not generally damaging.
I just read an article (it might have been here on SP) that said the 8 glasses a day recommendation has no science behind it, and scientists aren't even sure who started recommending it or why. BUT they continue to recommend it, because it sounds like a good idea.
Don't worry about how much you drink. Remember, scientists recommend that I, at 5'1 tall drink 8 glasses...and they recommend that a 6'5 tall man drink 8 glasses. So, it's inexact...and nothing to worry about, unless you are drinking a gallon all at once. (Don't do that. I did that once. It didn't end well for me.)

8 glasses a day is just an arbitrary minimum, that really doesn't have any solid science to back it up. For most of us who tend to stay chronically dehydrated or overdoes it on calorie-laden sodas and juices, it's a good target, but it's not a limit nor a really great goal. Especially if it's not all you're drinking, you're probably getting more than you think!
I prefer to drink to thirst, and to pee. ;) I know, sounds gross, but the color of your urine is the best indicator of how much you're drinking and if it's enough for you. If your urine is dark, then you're not getting enough. If it's clear, you're getting too much. If it's pale, straw yellow? You're getting enough without going overboard.
Don't worry about the numbers (I just track to pee, then hit 8 glasses to get my sparkpoints, regardless of how many glasses of water I drink.)
8 glasses is the minimum for a normal sized person. If you are seriously overweight, you may need 10 a day, even if sedentary.
If you are exercising, you should have another glass every 15-20 minutes.
I've lost 147 lbs drinking about 12 glasses a day. It will just make you urinate more, flushing out toxins. You may see a slight uptick in weight on day 1 of drinking more, but the body adjusts, and weight loss continues. Your body does not hold on to extra water. Avoid drinking a gallon in 15 minutes, and you will be fine.
Sometimes I drink more than eight glasses of fluid per day, especially if you include tea or other beverages in the equation.
Sometimes it's based on the weather, or how much I've been doing that causes the extra consumption.
As another said - unless you're drinking gallons extra; one glass won't be much of an issue.

At your size I would be VERY careful not to over drink water....if you were my size 12 glasses a day can be helpful, but the smaller we get it can be dangerous to over drink water, especially in a short amount of time. If this is sometime you want to continue on a regular basis, say if it's not 90 degrees outside and you are naturally sweating a lot, I would consult with your doctor!! : )

No, It certainly won't hurt you.... If you are talking drinking a gallon or more in a relatively short time...then yes, it will mess up your electrolytes and could land you in the ER. But over the course of a day...not a problem.
In fact, if you live in a hot environment, and do any exercise, you may NEED more than 8 glasses!! If you are thirsty, certainly drink. There are some Spark articles on how much water to drink when you are exercising...you can Search for them, and it might be good information for you.
