I welcome a day off. I am planning one right now. Can't even afford it (was laid off), but I'm planning a day trip. It will have just a little walking (my Diabetes case considers strolling - the only speed I can do with my foot problems - so notaworkout ...). So, THERE!
There's a way to do it the right way, though ... day trip or shopping ... FTW ...

I would suggest that you work HARD on your workout days and you'll want and appreciate the rest days without feeling antsy.

I just feel restless on my rest days. I usually go for a walk. Nothing high speed - just something that gets me out and about.

I biked during my last rest day, and I usually rest on Sundays, but this week I have plans to run, so today I am resting and totally cool with it.

I have a hard time taking the day off from exercise. It is a regular part of my day and when I don't do something, I do not feel right. I try to get at least 30 minutes of exercise everyday. I don't always achieve my goals, but I come pretty close most days and I feel better for it.
Rest days are my worst enemy - or maybe I should re-phrase that and say I myself are my worst enemy, in that I won't allow myself a rest day even though I know the importance of resting.
It's something that I continually struggle with. Two halves of my mind battling it out - one half saying "Come on, everyone knows a rest day is only going to do you good", the other half saying "Come on, if you have a day off then you'll gain weight".
I workout hard every time, and my daily life outside the gym is very active - I am semi-retired, so don't sit a desk all day, but instead spend my time doing house work, garden work, etc etc.... as long as I'm up and on the go, then I'm happy.
I really wish I could be more relaxed about it all, but I just can't seem to!

I'm only taking one day off a week because it is such a struggle for me to just rest. Last Wednesday I struggled through the whole morning and early afternoon. The rain that just wouldn't quit didn't help at all since it made me feel more trapped inside the house. Tomorrow's my next rest day, I plan to do as much housework as possible and take my nephews for a short, slower 1 mile walk in their stroller in the evening. This way I can keep busy and still rest my muscles.

To me, taking a day off isn't about sitting around and doing nothing. Typically, Fridays are my day off from strenuous exercise but I still take a brisk walk at lunch and take the dogs for a walk. I am just not doing hard core vigorous exercise like running.

I took most of the last week off, with the exception of my volleyball game and one ST day at the gym. Life happened. But I took care of all the loose threads and started this week with my normal routine.

I am fine with a day off. Even God took a day off :) I do enough during the week to deserve that rest!
I have no trouble taking a day off - especially if I have a good book!

This past weekend, I took a trip to visit a friend. So, I wasn't able to engage in my normal fitness routine. In past, I would have freaked out.
However, I have learned that taking a day off here or there will NOT derail any of my efforts at long term good health or fitness. When I got back from the trip, I resumed my normal routine.
Rest days should be a part of everyone's healthy lifestyle.
I think the problem is that too many people believe that if they skip one day, they might skip more. And yes, that could happen to someone on a diet. Someone engaged in a healthy lifestyle knows that a day gives our bodies a chance to refresh and recharge tired batteries. We are not machines who can go 24/7. We do need to rest some times.

I took today off from exercising. I do about 40mins per day not vigorous but certainly enough for me. So, I decided to get my hair 'done' and just have a rest. But, I just couldn't do it. Got my hair cut and coloured treated myself to coffee and then came home to an empty house (everyone is at work) I fiddled about for a bit but was restless. So, me and my new 'do' dawned my gardening clothes and I got set about mowing the lawn. After sweating to bits for an hour I am now tired and look a fright! So, now when the family come home I will look no different to normal! Lol do other people struggle on a 'day off'?
