I like it. I don't know what all the griping is about. If you save something you use a lot to your FAVORITES then the only time you need to worry about searching is when it's a new item. Problem solved.

I am trying to get used to it. I, also, thought something was wrong with my computer the first time I used it! LOL!

I don't like it, either. I liked the old one better. The new one is really annoying.

sometimes though I type in something and hit enter, and for whatever reason it searches for only part of the word . . . I don't know. I really try not to complain about changes because I appreciate that this site is free and that changes have to happen in order to keep everything working well. But this one is really irritating to me. Hopefully I'll get used to it and it will stop being such a frustration.
just type in what you need and hit search. this is just another version of the most commonly typed things that used to pop up from the searchbar. if you just type what you want, say "apple," and hit search the first thing that comes up is fresh apple, just like it always has.
-google first. ask questions later.

I was just thinking the same thing myself. It's annoying. I like the old way better.

I live in NZ and a lot of our food is different to other countries. As a result, most of my foods are in my manually entered favourites. I find it really annoying that now I have to type it all out because the food doesn't automatically pop up in '[predict text' like it did before. Instead I get tons of other things. I go to type in something like Banana, which IS on SP Data base, and get this:
Chickpeas (garbanzo beans)
There are many other entries like it, too. I have "All words" selected so can't understand why every "God-given food on this earth" pops up. The only thing in the Chickpeas is 'ban' in 'garbanzo' - certainly NOT all the word at all :-( NOW my entries take a wee bit longer, and that I DIDN'T want!!
I have been told I can click 'escape' and they disappear, but I still have to type in the whole thing, because I might have tons to sort through otherwise.

Actually, now that I'm getting used to it... i kind of appreciate it. I find that it is a little bit visually unappealing (all those lines! first time i saw it i thought my computer or connection was lagging and not loading up the graphics correctly)... BUT I like the fact that the search word is highlighted-in-bold. It makes scanning a long list for the entry you're looking for, a little easier.
My current nutrition search pet peeve is with mandarin oranges. I bought a box (tis the season), ate one, went to track it. Typed in "mandarin" and "mandarin orange" - got a list of results that began with canned mandarins, moved on to gel cup mandarins, takeout mandarin chicken, mu shu pork with mandarin sauce, mandarin flavoured drink mix... and then wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy down at the bottom, "Fresh Mandarin Orange."
I just hate it when the "real/whole" food turns up at the bottom of the search. It should be the FIRST result returned.

I am typing apple and automatically opens all the apple choices... I am trying to put red for example and just runs the search with apple... hate it! cant stand it!! I am starting to use mobile app instead as this is driving me crazy!
am I clear? I can upload pics if its not!!!!
so.... any idea if I can turn this thing OFF somehow? Its an absolutely awful feature... if someone thought this was an improvement... fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!!
