I have arthritis in both knees also but I believe there is something wrong besides the osteoarthritis in my right knee and leg because it is swollen 2 times my left leg and hurts many times to just walk. I do walk all the time but I really do not want to, so I know exactly what you are going through with your knees. I just ache all the time with mine. I tore the miniscus pad on both sides of right knee several years ago in 1994 1993 and I believe it is torn again, but without insurance it is impossible to have it x-rayed. How did you get yours to stop hurting?

I know what you mean. It feels so good to have done something for yourself. That is a big deal. Just keep talking to the little girl inside yourself and tell her she can do it.

i have started crossing my legs at the knee...have not done it in years and it just tickles me every time i find myself doing it. 50 lbs 1 year and it's the neatest little thing:) keep going....

Keep up the good work! You are such an inspiration for me! I too have trouble with my knees some days and it is difficult to stand up after sitting for a while. With exercise and dieting I hope to have it a bit better too with the less weight on the knees!
Blessing to you!!

Good job. Sometimes it is the little things that are important to a person's overall health. When you lose some abilities it snowballs and you tend to lose even more ability. Keep moving, work through (moderate) pain and discomfort, eat healthy foods in moderation and watch the pounds drop off.

That is so wonderful, I too am walking down the stairs one at a time, my knees just cant handle the weight of my body going up or down one at a time but I look forward to the day when I can manage stairs the way we are supposed. So I celebrate your victory with you and hope one day soon it is my little victory.

Good for you! I can't walk up or down stairs without the "one step at a time" method yet. I had a knee replacement 8 months ago but am recovering slowly because of arthritis and being 65. Sparkpeople is helping me so much, however, but I just joined a few weeks ago. Thanks for being out there, ya'll!

9/23/10 1:28 A

Wow, good job! I too have physical problems with my spine and fibromyalgia. It takes pushing yourself past that pain sometimes. You have inspired me! Sometimes I feel overwhelmed and I don't think I will ever be able to lose weight again but now I am motivated.

Thanks for sharing. emoticon

That's great. I am excited for you! Keep up the good work and believe me your hard work WILL pay off. I gained about 25 extra pounds due to rearing my four children. One day I tried to run during a walk (and I despised running before this). Went to the first mailbox I saw and now I run almost 6 miles - lost 12 pounds - yipeee! Feel healthier and clothes fit better also much better moods. Have fun!

WOW! Someone who understands! I could have written that. I sold cars for 23 years. Needsly to say I have arthritis so bad; never realizing you could be in so much pain. I have just recently joined "Sparkle" and I want to change my life so much for I feel I have lost the person I was in this pain! I need to lose 100 plus pounds. I do too want to walk again down a flight of stairs without doing it in an angle. I put on this 100 pounds in 10 years since I got arthritis. Any suggestions appreciated. emoticon

To some this may be something you take for granted..I know I once did. Well I have arthritis in both knees and today is the 1st day in a long time that I can recall that I didn’t walk down stairs one step at a time or at an angle. I almost tripped when I realized what I was doing. No pain and no thoughts..just doing it! It’s all because I joined SparkPeople and lost 7lbs and started taking better care of myself. I also take glucosamine and other vitamins..but I feel better and happier. Thanks for listening! It’s the little things that count!
