I pack my breakfast, lunch and snacks every day when I go to school. I'm on an extremely tight budget, so I don't really have an option. I just bring enough money for a cup of coffee between classes. It helps that my school has a fridge for everyone to use, but even if yours doesn't, not many foods will go bad in the couple hours between packing and eating.

The other members posted alot of good ideas. Like looking at calories (this is a major detrent for me)my sister got me into this and sometime just looking at what is in a product makes me sick.

Also when I get hungry it is not good for me because then I dont care what I eat which is the worst if you are trying to watch what your eating so I find healthy snacks that I like and carry them with me. Then when you feel for a snack you have a healthy one with you. Also packing snacks save ALOTTTTT of money. And as a college kid you need your pennies.

Do you have any financial goals? It might make it easier to leave your money at home if you are saving for something specific - like a new pair of shorts for this summer or a cruise during Spring Break.
Two tips for avoiding the vending machines: 1) look at the label of what you are eating! emoticon 2) chew gum whenever you feel the need to munch. Good luck!

It would benefit you to grocery shop and get smart/healthy snacks and fresh fruit to take to school with you. And limit the money you take as well so you don't buy unnessesary unhealthy snacks.

Have you tried packing snacks to take with you and leaving your money at home?

I feel as though when I have money in my pocket I spend it on food and its not the good foods. I spend it on snacks because that's all they have in my school and they are very unhealthy.
