Congratulations I am dealing with sleep apnea and a knee replacement. I know that it is downhill if I don't lose at least sixty pounds. I always say tomorrow. Tomorrow never comes. Reading what you had to say helps me realize that I need to lose weight and I can't make excuses. Thank for your story.

You are ispirational!. I also have a heart condition and was slowly dying..To much weight, Asthma and high blood pressure 118 kilos . I now as you have my life back!! and yes I can!. I am 85'9 kilos Swimming most days walking ..Exercising on the bike or the tready.. Hey I just love Sparks and my Life... Cheers Susie

I applaud you wholeheartedly. I know exactly what you are going through. A year ago this week my mother passed away. Ever since the weight started coming off little by little. Ever since my son was born years ago my wright just stayed on and just wouldn't come off of me. But just all of a sudden it's being coming much to my liking, though. Now doesn't make you better and look better, too?? Congrats again!! Keep up the good work!!!!!!LOL!!!!

My favorite stories is that of the Hare & the Tortoise, because the moral of the story is "Slow & steady wins the race". And slow & steady means you keep it off!!!
It took me from approx 2yrs to lose 63lbs, between 2004 & 2006. I have managed to keep it off with a bit of a gain, but with all of the ups & downs during the 2yrs. And in recent times, I am still within 10lbs of my original goal. So what I have learned is that slow & steady gets you there, and helps you stay there. Taking each day one day at a time, but always, keeping on it.
I collect Tortoise's, because they remind to never give up to keep on going, to keep moving forward.
So congratulations! Remember to take you time, breath and keep moving forward!!
As someone with major health problems which contribute to my weight problems, I'd like to congratulate you and let you know you are indeed an inspiration! Thank you for your hard work and for sharing your story.

"God puts you exactly where you need to be" Now that your surgeries are over you can work on reaching a good healthy weight. My sister had open heart at 48, and it was he[[ on her. I'm glad you came through with such a great attitude that has inspired others. Did you ever think that if you had been underweight, you may never have made it through all those surgeries? I see alot of people with unrealistic goals of being super skinny and I've seen alot of people go through major surgery and lose 40lbs. If you only weigh 100 lbs, well, the prognosis isn't good.

Thankyou so vreymuch for sharing this story.....was driving home an hour ago knowing that we are going out tonight for dinner thinking..."oh I could just have somecrisps and nuts before I go"....no one will know.....instead I came in..took and apple and ate it and came onhere and there was your article.....WOW....was certainly being guided..... You are so right...."I Can" is such a positive statement and it is the I can we need to do to reach our goals....

I was just sitting here, it is 10pm, I thought I want to go and find something to eat in the kitchen. I then read your story and you have given me the motivation not to go to the kitchen.

What perseverance! What an inspiration. It reminds me of the story of the little red engine..I think I can,I think I can and when he reached the top and went down the other side ..I thought I could... but as you put it be even more positive..I CAN and we can especially when we are not alone

So "Happy" that God "Blessed You"...Your worth every inch of your-self...Good for you Sparkfriend...
So a year ago I was overweight, my heart was failing and I could literally feel everything I had worked for slipping away. I am only 26. Due to my heart condition, I could barely stay awake and put on at least 50lbs. Something had to be done. I would not let this beat me. I scheduled my surgery and came through it with flying colors. As I got stronger, I decided I wanted to take control of my life again. I had just come through my 5th open heart surgery. I felt like I could do anything. I started small. I drank more water, took the stairs, parked farther away and decided on a diet plan with my dr. I joined spark and began experimenting with all the delicious recipes. I read inspirational stories and wondered if I could one day be an inspiration to others. Pretty soon I was so motivated that I found myself doing more and more. Here it is a year later and I have taken off 40lbs!!! I feel better than I did when I was a teenager. For everyone out there who has struggled with their health, their weight just keep telling yourself I can. So when you are tempted to grab that piece of cake, or late night snack or the cookie in the office lounge that no one will know about....stop and think NO! I cannot be beaten, I can do this diet thing, I can change my life. I CAN!!
