You deserve a break today! Give yourself some time to get well. A cold will last for a minimum of two weeks, but the coughing can go on and on. Has anyone suggested drinking hot chicken broth? The steam is good for a stuffed up head and it's just plain good for you whether you are sick or well. I used to take cough syrup to sleep, but I woke up groggy every four hours or whenever the cough syrup wore off. Now I just take Tylenol for those aches and pains, drink my chicken broth, and get plenty of rest. I've only had one cold an the past year and a half. WooHoo! I must also add that I have been using a CPAP machine with warm humid air given to me all night long by the machine. I think this has helped. When we turn on the heat as it gets colder outside we dry out the air inside our homes. Add moisture to your air if you can to see if that might help. Be well soon!

Double Ditto! Do the best you can. If it's okay with your doctor you might want to try Zinc lozenges. They have been shown to shorten the duration and severity of colds. The last few times that I felt I was coming down with a cold I started the lozenges, had mild symptoms for a day or so and felt better.

Remember, you are not a bad person or an unhealthy one because you have to take a couple days off from your routine to recover from a cold. If you have aches, pains and over all fatigue, get some rest. Don't try to exercise. If you do, you'll just feel worse.
Take a few days off. Get some rest. Drink plenty of fluids. You WILL NOT derail any of your efforts at good health or weight loss. Learning how to take care of ourselves when we are sick is part of the process of becoming more healthy.
If you can't exercise, don't worry about it. When you start feeling better, then you can slowly ease back into your routine.
PS - If you need more than a couple of days to get over this cold, that's okay too !
